So far the weakest link in a series of Vegan restaurants my partner and I have visited in D.F. It's a cute little spot and I dig what their about: the mural on the wall with the little animals saying 'no somos ingredientes' and the posters for protests etc but the food was pretty lack lustre. We ordered the brochetas caprese, the tofu was super salty, the strawberry balsamic reduction was more like strawberry jam and the fresh basil was a tiny, almost imperceptible sprinkling on the cheese. We also got the veg pizza, the base left a lot to be desired. It was soggy and you had to use two hands to pick it up. Their potato cheese was tasty and had a creamy texture. Again the pizza relied heavily on the salt.
We did enjoy the couple of American IPAs we drank. I can't remember the brand but they were 'cruelty free' and donated a percentage of proceeds to rescue animals.
Overall 3 stars for having their hearts in the right place, but it lacked the sophistication of some of the other spots we have...
Read moreThe vegan pizza is a thing, however terrible service. The pizza comes in a decent individual size for MXN 145, and a family size for MXN 255. The base is super thin and crispy while the toppings melt in your mouth. I like the “veggie lover” which is with mushrooms. I could still feel the taste which kept me returning. The place is tiny and cosy, with a hippie design and many mismatching chairs. If you’re lucky you could grab one of the comfy sofas. Took a couple of stars as the staff is greedy and the service was super disappointing. Last time I went by myself, I got a table, ordered and paid upfront. A group arrived 15’ later so I moved to a smaller table to accommodate them. Then after another 15’ the group got their order and I was still waiting and asking multiple times. My pizza ultimately came and the base wasn’t well cooked, not crunchy at all. I had paid in advance including a tip and had the best worst treatment in return. I won’t be coming back. You...
Read moreOur first meal in CDMX. This place is a cool vibe with 90s rock music videos playing and enjoying a meal with friends in the patio. I love that the furniture is different and unique as they are focused on sustainability.
The presentation of the food is great. I really enjoyed the unique flavors that all came together on the pizza. I had the Al pastor pizza and the mexicana and I really liked the think crust and the density of ingredients.
Because of language and being my first night in CDMX I could not engage with the folks working there. I am working on my confidence with diving into Spanish.
Finally, I want to talk about the empanadas. OME- Oh my Empanadas. I think these were some of the best I had. The pastry was really good and the filling for carne and spinach were amazing. My friends said they did not enjoy the bacon one as much. I loved it.
It was a great way to kick off our week in Ciudad de...
