A to Z phenomenal experience at Co. Banitas Eco Hotel. You’re very lucky to stay here. From the time you arrive you’re in a jungle wonderland of lush green trees, beautiful indoor / outdoor suite villas that are tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished for all your vacation needs. Each moment you’re there you discover gems throughout this property. The place is super quiet. All guests are super mindful of one another. Excellent vibe all around. The outdoor shower in my suite allowed me to see the stars and moon. Gorgeous decor. Plenty of electrical plugs near the night stand, foot of the bed and the table near the other wall. They have ceiling fans that work well. I enjoyed the hammock outside and the fresh fruit and granola breakfast each day. I was greeted by a gentleman that was Marco’s partner. While I noticed him he was very kind and directed me to Carmen and/or Marco. Carmen is an absolute stellar individual, host, and resort concierge. Even if that is her title she will point you in the right direction for food, night life, Cenotes, car service, local market, bike rentals, beach access the whole 9 yards. She is very sweet and more than gracious. Marco too was a remarkable host. He is very informative , reliable, dependable, caring and a gentleman. I truly felt well cared for the moment I arrived to the minute I left. They’re truly there to help you or leave you to be self sufficient. Regardless they are around and make themselves available to help you around the Tulum beach area. I’m in gratitude for the unique experience and will be returning to enjoy the beauty more. Location! location! Location! This place is prime. In the middle of everywhere you want to be. Go north for restaurants, bars, other hotel beach clubs and partying. Or go south for restaurants, hotel beach clubs, cenotes, and market. It’s a great place to start your exploration on foot or by bike or scooter. I had friends at hotels more northern and more southern and we always were around my place for our base meet ups. Hands down great location! The rest I will keep to myself. You have to go and experience this wonderful place. It truly is magical and a stellar place to visit. Even more exciting when you have a good command center or base place to call home away from home....
Read moreI anticipated a pleasant two-night stay at this location, but it turned out to be quite disappointing.
The facility appears much older than depicted in the photos, with very dark rooms and poorly maintained peripheral areas.
Mosquitoes were abundant. Rooms had mosquito nets, but with holes. And the loose doors provided another easy entry for them. The beds were unusually small and with tight mosquito nets around theme. This combination made contact of the skin with the net unavoidable. I woke up with 35 bites on one forearm alone.
As a bonus the pervasive smell of sulfur from nearby mangroves and the constant noise throughout the night from a nearby generator further detracted from the experience.
Despite its proximity to the beach on the map, accessing it required a 15-minute walk to a bar that granted passage through their property.
Plus when seeking recommendations for local cenotes, the hostess suggested checking Google photos instead of providing helpful information. Also, despite being labeled as a hotel, the check-in revealed it was a hostel.
Our disappointment led us to leave after just one night. I'm puzzled by how this place achieved a high rating.
This was actually the worst accommodation that we stayed in at Mexico. And we stayed at quiet a few in 5 different states.
On a positive note, they do have a cool open-roof shower and a...
Read moreSadly this was the worst stay of our travels in over 60 countries. We went with our two kids (3 and 1). We were placed right by the road which was incredibly noisy and despite the place being empty were not offered to move by the grumpy staff.
Night two we had a storm, the rain was falling on my feet and my son's feet in our shared bed... Night 4 this was literally maggots falling in our bed, staff just didn't care and blamed the rain, the lady is leaving soon so just doesn't seem to care.
The entire place is dirty and run down, the worst value for money ever. The beach is not great. Why people come to Tulum is beyond me and why people leave this place a decent review is also beyond me.
They didn't want to change our bedding after our 1 year old was physically sick and are reluctant to change towels or even clean every day.
Quite simply a massive disappointment and just a place I wouldn't recommend to anybody. We stayed in room 2.
It doesn't look like the photos. There are tarpaulins on roofs but these are also failing. The back of the hotel is a complete mess.
Avoid staying here and if the owner reads this you really need to invest some money...
