Riad BE Marrakech — Hotel in Marrakesh Prefecture

Don't trust the pictures on the Internet, they don't match what you'll get once you're there. OK, the riad is pleasant, but that's all. It is not well maintained, the furniture is a bit old and sometimes dirty. The room we had, the largest (and also the most expensive), had a terrible smell of damp coming from the bathroom. When booking online, I pre-booked dinner for the first night, thinking we would have something special. But when I asked for it, no one knew about it. The guy on the reception told me it was fine and I'd just have to order off the new menu. What a lovely menu! Dinner was ridiculously uninteresting. We had a choice of chicken tagine, vegetable tagine and lamb tagine (sorry, no lamb today), some fried food and local salads. The salad was ok, the fried food was probably not handmade, the vegetable tagine was far too salty and dry, and the chicken tagine was tasteless. Overall, the whole stay was a very disappointing experience. Although the staff are nice and friendly, I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are hundreds of riads in Marrakech and any one of them will certainly be a better choice. This place really reminded me of my backpacking experiences from my youth. Amazingly beautiful riad with a premium on customer service. The staff was extremely attentive and took pride over small details of service. Everywhere is Instagramable. However, as a utilitarian, there is a lot left to be desired. The table and chair combinations left no room for knees, the bathroom locked from the outside, odd shower stream placement, and steps made of slippery tile with a slight decline - and no handrail. But these are minor gripes when you consider the beautiful and well designed rooftop with nooks, crannies, plenty of shade, and a nice breeze as well as a cozy and gorgeous atrium with a pool, plenty of seating and greenery . Overall, this will be a Riad that you will be happy to come back to.

A few things of note: this is a riad in Marrakech so there are many cats roaming around. All the riads have cats. The center of the riad, while technically indoors, is not under a roof. So there may be a few more bugs than in a truly indoors pool. Weak, unstable WiFi. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME COME HERE!

I wish I can rate 0 for this ridiculous place. I called to book for lunch 5 days in advance and got well confirmed on phone. When I arrived, I was told that my reservation was cancelled because they were holding a private event. Without any notice they can freely cancel your reservation and shut you out of the door when you arrive. It was 36 degree outside, we were almost dehytratated, came to this badly located place, just for the lunch that we reserved and got confirmed.

This clearly shows how arrogant, irresponsible and disrespective they treat their customers. They may think they are popular on Instagram so they can do whatever they want, they can sacrifice individual customers to earn more money from private event and larger groups. Exposure on social media doesn’t guarantee a sustainable business, but a terrible and cocky management will sure guarantee a business failure.
