I travelled to Marrakech in June with my daughter having just finished her GCSE’s. I spent some time looking at accommodation options and found a few Riads that looked good locations to the central area, I went with Les Sources as it seemed good value for money and reviews read well, we were not disappointed. I knew cabs would not be able to drop us outside and we did get a little lost on arrival but were helped by locals and found it eventually were we were greeted by Abdul who was very welcoming. He made us mint tea and told us to relax after our journey. Paperwork etc complete we made our way to our room which was lovely, great size and bathroom and we were grateful for the air con. When we ventured out again, Abdul walked with us to ensure we found our way back and gave us some pointers on what we could find where. From that point on we had no problem with directions. The 3 day stay was lovely, bathroom was clean and tidy and shower was lovely and hot and a great pressure. We had no problems with wifi in the Riad at all. If anything was required you had a WhatsApp number and I used it a couple of times to request the jacuzzi on the roof be put on and help with printing our boarding passes for return flight (which the airport insist on by the way) and all requests were dealt with quickly. Breakfast on the rooftop was lovely, water, orange juice, tea and coffee, some fruit, eggs for omelette or fried (and a staff member to cook for you) and some sweet options. Those were enough for us as we are not big in breakfast. We just wanted to say a big thank you, from myself and daughter Ava and we would most certainly stay...
Read moreWhen you enter this Riad, it is easy to understand why architecture is considered one of the fine arts. Upon entering, I felt like I was in a poem transformed into a house. Just as a poet chooses each word and pause to give rhythm, meaning, and beauty to the poem, in this Riad each element — from the structure to the decoration — was carefully chosen and positioned to create overall harmony.
Situated in the heart of Marrakech, in the Medina, just a 5 to 10-minute walk from Djemaa El Fna square, this Riad is an example of Amazigh architecture. Considering that Marrakech was founded by the Almoravid dynasty and later expanded and modified by the Almohads, both Amazigh dynasties, with their own distinct identity within the vast panorama of Islamic art. In this Riad, you can appreciate Amazigh art, a unique fusion of local and tribal Amazigh and Islamic elements, which value simplicity and functionality, fundamental principles of this architectural style. It is a great place to work, with a good and stable internet connection, and the food couldn't be better.
However, the most beautiful aspect of this Riad is the people who work there: the two Mariams, Ikran, Imane, Muhammed, Abdul, and Fouzia, the manager, always attentive to every detail, guiding the team like an astute conductor with her baton, an orchestra.
I chose this Riad to celebrate my birthday as a gift to myself, and it couldn't have been better, not just for the beauty of the Riad, but mainly for the people who work there. To all of them, a big thank you for providing me with so many...
