Angsana Riads Collection Morocco — Hotel in Marrakesh Prefecture

Just returned after 4 nights at Riad Si Said which has been an absolute delight. On arrival, being served mint tea and cakes, whilst all formalities are taken care of, we are asked to choose the room scent we would like, and when ready, shown to our room. Greeted with an enormous super king-size bed, there is a lovely sitting area, separate dressing area and bathroom with gold basin and tap. Beautiful soft white bath towels and dressing gowns. Nothing any trouble for very attentive staff. We have our bedding turned down every night, our chosen scent sprayed around the bed and rooms. Breakfast, just fabulous, with more than enough to see you through the day. We had dinner at the Riad on our first and last night, the food simply excellent. Despite the restaurant being fully booked on our last night, they set a table in one of the side rooms and we enjoyed an unexpected and delightfully romantic dinner, just the 2 of us. This illustrated the attentiveness of staff. Nothing too much trouble. Every member of staff seem utterly and genuinely devoted to ensuring your enjoyment of every minute of your stay. As we were leaving, having barely left our room with our cases, a member of staff, who an hour before served us breakfast, appeared, almost out of nowhere, to carry our cases down for us. All staff providing a level of service you can only normally dream of. The Riad is an oasis of calm and relaxation after exploring the Medina and the chaos of the Marrakech souks. Our stay was a joy. We have returned home relaxed and refreshed and with warm memories of a joyful stay. Our hotel was the very historic, ancient and stunningly built Riad that would have once housed 4 Wives as was the tradition way back if you had money. Reception was another Riad, a very short street/alley treck round the corner and originally the Main Riad of the houshold, (Apparently there are 6 Riads of this chain in Morocco.) They very kindly upgraded me for free to be in the same Riad as the indoor sunken pool, (a useful item in July temps.) A small outdoor pool can be easily accessed in the reception Riad. Room air-con’ extremely efficient and not too noisy. Lovely, attentive and excellent staff at all levels. There are a reasonable amount good quality souvenir shops, and for larger household items, (metal crafts etc.) They are VERY proud of their local cuisine/spices…for me it was an acquired taste, but the tagines a must and to die for ordered from anywhere. When eating out, check the chosen restaurant sells alcohol and ice cream for that matter, lol, not all do! We rated all the palace and garden locations for a visit and the water park a great family day out…not too big and dangerous with beautiful gardens to sit in between dips. Taxis are a reasonable price , but much easier and cheaper to walk to most local places… the hotel gave us a free smartphone…we used it all the time for directions! Sadly, the actual ‘market square’ traders few and far between and snake charmers still about. Marraketch, in general, is not a long stay destination and lacks the romanticism and mysticism it might have once had, Whilst, generally, smelly, scruffy and impoverished there are worse places to be and these hotels are the best retreats from the gruelling heat and smell. Oh my, where do we start!|The staff are impeccable!!! We came back from a tour on the day of check-in. We were going to walk 25mins from our drop off location, but Soufian had called and arranged transport for us already (included in the price of the Riad). We were taken in the car straight to the Riad and we were greeted and checked in by the lovely Mustafa. |All guests are given a cellphone that you can hotspot off of, google and text/whatsapp the staff anytime if you have issues. |The room was so beautiful! The shower blew my mind. |We hugely recommend having a tajine at the Riad, it was so delicious and the staff (Soufian and Mustafa) made the night trying to teach us Berber and Arabic. I could eat the tajine we had there every single day of my life. As well as the delicious breakfast! YUM!|We had a late flight on check-out day and they didn’t have anyone checking in until midnight, so they allowed us to have the room until we had to leave (4:30pm) without any extra charge; as well as being picked up by transport to the airport again (included in the Riad price). |They also went through so much of the history about the Riad… it was so fascinating! |The Riad is slightly out from the main square (Jemaa El-Fnaa), maybe 15-20mins walk, but walking through the maze of little roads and past all the shops, is so much fun.|Plus, it is very close to major tourist spots: |- Le Jardin Secret Gardens|- Madrasa Ben Youssef|This is a very long review, but there is absolutely nothing to criticise, everything is amazing, beautiful, special, and even made friends...
