The restaurant is really a nice place to get to know African hospitality. The owner put together a fantastic team of people - not only from Morocco - who just have a lot of fun serving their clients. We were 5 friends travelling together and we had lots of questions about how Moroccon food is prepared - especially also the Tanjines. The people from the restaurant explained us everything and at the end even gave us 2 Tanjines as a gift, because we couldn't find the right version for cooking on the market. Thank you so much again!!! I have rarely seen such a hospitality - it felt more like we where for dinner at a friend's place rather than at restaurant. All staff members are totally easy-going and were naturally friendly (not the artifical smile that you find at times in restaurants)
Many others already said a lot about the food - great variety of both Maroccan, especially Berber dishes, plus some dishes inspired by neighboring countries. This is the best place to learn something about African cousine (and ask the staff about details - they tell you everything about the food). Go and try, they have quite a lot of interesting stuff!! I personally like "the forgotten Berber dishes" on the menu a lot.
The rooftop is great - we spend a whole evening on the rooftop. Around midnight when the restaurant was about to shut down, all people from the restaurant gather on top of the rooftop and began singing and enjoying the end of their daily shift. And they did not throw us out, just closed the cheque and invited us to join. We chatted quite some time with many of them - it was really amazing to get to know so many of them. I will always remember that evening.
In summary: If you want to experience great African/Moroccan/Berber hospitality, eat some great food and have a great time, go to this place. It is an exceptional restaurant and a great place to eat, drink...
Read moreNegatives: We arrived at around 1855hrs (booked for 1900hrs) during Ramadan and we did not get served, nor have it explained to us that we would have to wait for the staff to break fast. I have absolutely no issue with it, it was nice to enjoy the rooftop views but from a service standpoint you should tell your guests. I only found out because I overheard them telling a group on the table away from us. This included not getting a drink either for quite some time. We also asked for chilli oil / sauce with the main incase we wanted to add spice. That didn’t come and with having a few different waiters and waitresses it became a challenge to get what we asked for and even when it came it was some sort of spicy seasoning and not what thought we were getting.
Positives: I know there was quite a few negatives there. However, the ambience was lovely. The views were nice, the tables were well placed, seats were comfy. Blankets offered for the cold and music was on point for the vibe. We ordered 2 cans of pop, and 2 mains, the Ramen and then Beef Red Curry. The beef curry was super tasty, fresh cubes of beef which melted in the mouth with a delicious creamy but spicy sauce with some rice. Unfortunately not a huge portion size for me. The Raman was nice, that’s about it. The eggs were overdone and it lacked a kick but otherwise it was nice.
The decor was great, the staff were helpful, although failed they did try.
It gets a 4 solely on my beef and the vibes but there is plenty to work on here. Don’t miss it, it’s hidden away and it’s worth a punt.

Read moreA great little restaurant, a different palate to Moroccan cuisine. Ingredients are fresh, portions generous, staff is friendly and very attentive, but strike a perfect balance as there is a great terrace, and you're left alone to admire the view. Although not Moroccan cuisine, it is the perfect jumping off point that eases you into the life and spices of the Souk. It may be considered by some to be expensive, but it is actually mid priced, or what you'd expect to pay as a cheap meal back home (1 appetiser and 2 entrees and 2 drinks) comes out to $27 usd. The reason for the great value is the fact that a lot of surrounding restaurants will charge the same, but the quality will be sorely lacking. I highly recommend this place, it is very tourist friendly but has a local vibe, there is food for the kids, the view is great and it is along a main thoroughfare so you can easily navigate to and from the Jamaal et...
