The only thing this hostel has focused on is cleanliness & aesthetic rooms. Location & rooms are good but the staffs are the biggest disappointment! I stayed for two weeks but they changed the bedsheet only once so I requested to change it but got no response at all but still I didn’t complained & I did checked out 4 hours late but I was ready to pay the extra charge but they insisted on paying the full charge & also very rudely. But they teamed up & had the audacity to say I was being rude and disrespectful. I have the tendency to treat everyone with respect I wasn’t even arguing I was requesting for extra charge instead of full day charge. I didn’t denied the payment at all but why would I pay if I am not staying. I didn’t denied me being 4 hours late but I was ready to pay their charge for it, but instead of confronting me as i am the guest they teamed up and were extremely rude to me. I did paid nepali rupees 500 for late checkout because I am not stingy like them but I would not pay for the full day if I am not staying such ridiculous policies are only invented by stingy & manipulative fraudsters. The staffs are always like they hate their job , never smiling never greeting and always with a grumpy face which is unusual for people working in customer service. As a consumer I have every right to negotiate if i am not staying for the full day ! I tried to be fair and was ready to pay the extra charge for late checkout but this stingy people instead blamed me that i was being rude when in reality they were being rude. I did see reviews on the staffs being unfriendly rude and the stinginess and cleverness of the front staff but I got to experience in person & learned a lesson to only go to a hotel/hostel by checking the reviews. No matter how clean & good the rooms are no one likes to come to a place where they are not respected and being manipulated ! Stayed in hostels in more than 4 countries but never experienced such behavior. Take mine & other reviews seriously folks don’t ruin your vacation on negative energy. Save your time & money and avoid this place at all cost if you don’t want to deal with stingy and disrespectful people . Edit : ( My honest reply for their response ) Yet again, they are defending their reckless behavior which is very unacceptable in hospitality. Even if it's a dorm, even if it's a hotel, I have every right to negotiate it’s not about the money it’s about the service & how I am being treated. They didn’t changed the sheet when I personally requested which was a big red flag but still I didn’t complained but during negotiation had the audacity to shift blame on me & putting false accusation on a single young girl by teaming up. I guess in their perspective negotiating is being rude well I can’t change their mindset I may seem to lie in their response but the reviews from several people don’t lie . Every business collapse if they continue their entitlement, fragile ego & In hospitality more than anything customer service matters the most . Why don’t they put effort on improving their customer service instead of teaming up & falsely accusing a single girl if they really care about their business. I got falsely accused when I was Being fair & honest for their real behavior & stinginess. In their eyes I may lie but the reviews don’t there are several reviews of similar experience like mine do check , analyze & decide from my review & their response about...
Read moreGood hostel near Thamel in Kathmandu.
I reached early morning around 4:30 AM but it is really kind of them to give me early check-in at 6:30 AM. Staff is cooperative.
I stayed in a 12-bed dorm on 2nd floor which is cozy and comfortable, provided with card, lockers and AC with heater.
My MacBook charger was falling off the adapter so had to use a small adapter and you might need an UNIVERSAL Travel Adapter.
Always keep your card with you otherwise you won’t be enter your room.
Rooms are located on 1st floor and above. There is no ELEVATOR so keep that in mind as the rooftop is also on 4th floor and it is tiring to go up.
WIFI is good but not uniform at all places. Doesn’t WORK at all in washrooms which is very disappointing as my mobile network (NCell) was also not working there.
LOCATION might not be good for some as you have to go through the narrow alleys. There are 2 ways to reach. One way can be accessed by small car also and other one which is near to main road, is accessible by walk and 2-wheeler only.
Drinking WATER (both hot and cold) is available only on ground floor so you will have to go there.
Lack of open COMMON SPACE to socialise and meet hostel mates. There is one but that’s not very good.
Laundry and tour bookings are available on reception.
There are 3 areas to eat in hostel, one on ground floor, 1st floor and rooftop on 4th floor. It is named as Nectar restaurant.
Aloo parantha is just amazing especially with radish pickle and green chutney. Bit expensive but good food and service.
To get food late night, you can use “Pathao” app or there is a 24*7 veg restaurant just 200 metres from the hostel.
P.S - It is aesthetically very pleasing and they have done good work on that.
Date of Visit - 2nd to 6th...
Read moreWe had a private room with two beds from May 13 to May 14. The room was very small, so we had to leave the window open because we could not tolerate air conditioning for health reasons. Therefore, we asked the receptionist beforehand if we could leave the window open because we could not tolerate air conditioning. He said that this is possible and there are no mosquitoes. At night our room was full of mosquitoes and smoke from outside. Someone had burned something and we could not breathe and sleep. Therefore we had to leave the door open the whole night. In the morning (May 14) we asked the woman at the front desk if we could get a discount or at least a coffee as compensation. After consulting with her manager she told us this was not possible and we would not get any compensation. For 3000 NPR per night, a very expensive room for which we get no sleep because of smoke in the room and not even a coffee to compensate. The manager was probably not able to tell us this personally and instead had his employee tell us. We are very disappointed with Flock Hostel as we were initially very impressed with the cleanliness and interior. However, the management is arrogant and unable to deal with customers. For less than 1500 NPR there are much better hotels nearby. We cannot recommend this hostel and do not recommend staying here if you do not want to suffer from smoke inhalation during the...
