10 Star Experience! No need to search further - go with Exciting Nepal!
As someone who has traveled to over 200 countries and partnered with numerous international climbing and tour companies, I hold a very high bar in terms of the level of service, expertise, professionalism and value for money I expect. Subash, the owner of Exciting Nepal, and his team far exceeded my expectations. My friend and I booked the Everest Base Camp with helicopter return. From the moment I made my first inquiry with Subash, I knew I had made the right decision. I extensively researched and reached out to numerous companies both in the US and locally in Nepal. Unlike other companies, Subash was extremely responsive throughout the process, patiently answering my laundry list of questions and providing expert recommendations based on my personal preferences and goals. Every aspect of the program was extremely well organized and executed flawlessly from start to finish. Unlike other companies which are purely “transactional” and impersonal, it’s clear that Subash and his team deeply and genuinely care about each and everyone of their clients - it was as if we were welcomed into a family. What is not apparent from the website is the fact that Exciting Nepal is the primary point of contact and logistics provider for mountain rescues - when you book with them, you should know that you have immediate and direct access to rescue resources unlike other companies who would have to reach out to Exciting Nepal for assistance! As you can imagine, this is something you don’t want to compromise on.
Our trekking guide, Basu, was truly exceptional and went above and beyond to make our trek a dream come true. Basu was absolutely meticulous about ensuring every small detail was taken care of from start to finish and was incredibly caring and thoughtful - continually checking in on us and constantly motivating us with his positivity and upbeat attitude. He is an incredibly experienced guide and his passion for guiding and sharing the beauty of the mountains with others is an inspiration. Our days were filled with laughter and smiles and he created a uniquely warm and welcoming environment from the moment we said “good morning” and until we said “good night” every evening. Basu provided invaluable guidance on every aspect of our trek ranging from food recommendations to dressing appropriately for the changing weather conditions. Our porters Singman and Nyman, were also incredible and their strength and fortitude are nothing short of jaw-dropping. Along with Basu, they were constantly looking out for us and we felt so cared for. It was like spending time with a wonderful group of friends.
I can’t recommend Exciting Nepal highly enough. I’m someone who has extremely high standards and Subash and his team far exceeded my expectations. Don’t waste your time booking with companies located outside of Nepal and paying triple the price of a paper pushing middleman - go to the source of expertise on the ground. Exciting Nepal truly sets the benchmark others should strive for with deep expertise is based on years of accumulated experience. I was so impressed with their level of customer service and expertise. I will continue to recommend them and make them my go-to guide service for any travel...
Read moreI booked the Everest Three Passes trek with Exciting Nepal and had a positive experience overall, with a few suggestions as well. If you're thinking of doing this trek, I highly recommend it! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience full of jaw-dropping views and unforgettable memories.
Pros: The manager, Subash, was very easy to communicate with leading up to the trek date. After I got a bad cold and was having trouble with the altitude towards the end of my trek, my guide Shambhu successfully and helpfully restructured the last few days of hiking to get me to lower altitude one day earlier. When I proactively asked in an easily understandable way, Shambhu offered interesting information about the landscapes and culture. My porter, Ram, was amazing and kind. The provided heavy jacket and sleeping bag were absolutely essential. Exciting Nepal kept the trek going even though I (as a solo traveler) was the only person who signed up.
Cons: On most days we did not start our hike until 20-30 minutes after our scheduled departure time because my guide was delayed. I was assured that my dietary restrictions would be respected and taken care of, but it quickly became clear that my guide had no understanding of these restrictions. Thankfully I was able to figure things out on my own. The return to Kathmandu from the Everest region features little organization and preparation. After flying back into Kathmandu valley at Ramechhap, we waited for 30 minutes while all of the other trekkers left on tour buses and we eventually we took a public van (ludicrously jam-packed with 16 people, twice as many people as there should have been) back to Kathmandu. The trip took over 5 hours and was exceedingly uncomfortable, a far cry from the 3.5 hour trip to Ramechhap in a car at the beginning of the trek. Oftentimes I would end up being alone for portions of the hike because my guide would go at his own pace. He would often be far behind me (not keeping up) or far in front of me (not stopping when I stopped to take photos), and would sometimes be so far away that I couldn't see him and had to fend for myself at trail intersections.
Tip: when you get to a teahouse for the night, go on a walk around the area! Some of my favorite experiences on the trek came when I went beyond the itinerary and explored side paths by myself. Don't listen if your guide says "there's nothing interesting to see on that path" - in my experience that was...
Read moreIf you are thinking about visiting Nepal you should definitely consider Exciting Nepal LTD this is one of the best outfits I’ve ever used. Mr. Subash was quick and very responsive to all of my questions and requests and one of the main reasons I ultimately chose his company. The day after our arrival we did the full day cultural Kathmandu tour. Our guide Raja Suwal, was extremely attentive and informative about all of the sites we visited. Our main event was of course a Himilayan trek, we did the 14 day EBC - Cho La Pass - Gokyo Lakes loop and it was perfection. Our guide Shasi, and porter Kumar were awesome, they went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. This is not the easiest hike to complete and to have a team like these guys working for you made the journey so much more memorable, I can’t recommend them enough. Lastly we had a 4 day safari in Bardiya National Park in southwest Nepal. Again another spectacular and well arranged trip. We stayed at the excellent Babai Resort owned and operated by Mr. Dharma. Our guides Kaysub and Manpati are two of the hardest working guides I have ever been guided by. We spent 36 total hours in the jungle during the four days with temps reaching 95 deg. F, but you really just need to do it if you want to see the animals. These guys made sure we saw them too, 1 Tiger within 3 hours of arrival, hundreds of deer, dozens of birds and elephants, and two Rhinos. If you do decide to come here know that it can be difficult to be out that long each day, but it is definitely worth it. The resort employees were also exceptional going all out to make sure our stay was great, and don’t get me started on the food, I couldn’t believe how good it was for where we were, another home run. Of course none of this would be possible without the expertise of Mr. Subash, I asked and he delivered, I will definitely be coming back to do the Annapurna trek and when I do I will be booking through Exciting Nepal, 10...
