I'm so glad I stayed in new hotel panda for my last two days in Kathmandu as all I needed was peace and quiet and that's exactly what I found here. The staff always looked after me from the second I made the booking to the moment I left the hotel. They offer to take your meals to wherever you please either that being your room, rooftop or just in the lobby and will prepare it for you on request. Speaking of the rooftop, it's a great place to start or end your day looking at the sunset and the rest of the city from a peaceful place. Room was on 2nd floor at the end of the corridor and I barely heard any honking or noises from the street, which is way too important for me as getting a good night's sleep was my priority. Also, being close to everything makes eating out soo easy. They are 70 meters away from Yangling where I had the most amazing mo:mos of my entire stay in Nepal or Yog where you can go to have a beer with a beautiful view of the city. They do live up to the expectations I had from reading about nepalese hospitality, kindness and respectfulness as everything has been great and will definitely reach out to them the next time I visit the country. Thank you so much and until next time!!

I would love to give a higher ranking, but, in all fairness I just can't. The service was excellent, very accommodating, but the place really needs to improve in some aspects and renovate. The rooms are not cleaned well at all. Ok, I understand that mold can be hard to get out, but the ubiquitous dust and dirt in the rooms is something that should be easily cleaned. The main disappointment is also that the pictures do not match the reality. Many of the pictures of the hotel were taken 9 years ago. It's no longer a new panda. It's very much an aged panda that needs to undergo renovation, and needs to improve room cleaning.

Location is very apt and the service rendered by all staffs was amazing. They’re polite and always ready to help. Rooms are comfortable and everything is within walking distance. Swayambhunath is around 2 kms while Pashupatinath and airport around 5 kms. They accept Visa cards and were kind enough to provide an early check-in.

stressful, unsafe, unwelcome for solo female traveller, I left hotel early.

hotel manager angry nasty, shouted at me that I had bad karma, I bring bad energy into hotel.

hotel manager put me in moudy, freezing cold room with no heaters. i complained about mould & cold, i asked please move room. pictures on website are years old, do not match reality. at the end of my week trip, hotel manager charged me again, he wanted me to pay twice, more money to pay for new room he moved me into.

hotel doors dont lock, i went into wrong room by accident and thought my bag got stolen i was very scared. You can just walk into any hotel room as doors stay unlocked.

i asked for taxi airport pick up, they confirmed it would be 900 nepal rupees. i gave flight number to track flight, and estimated flight time landing but taxi left, did not collect me.

when i arrived to hotel, hotel manager was very angry shouting at me. he said taxi waited 2 hours and i did not reply to booking.com message. i did not have a local sim card and was using airport wifi. my flight was delayed 20 minutes, nothing long, i was on time. Dont understand why taxi was sent so early, i sent them correct flight details, i was not late, this was hotels mistake.

Room stunk of mould had huge stains all over wall next to bed. i asked how i lock door, staff said it locks by itself, you dont need to do anything. this is also a lie.

the room smelly, air was cold, air felt wet, no heating or aircon. i come to nepal in winter december, room was freezing cold, had moudly walls where you sleep. not safe to breathe in.

The owner lives next door with his family. They've been here for 15 generations. It is clear that he cares deeply about his staff and the the guests. Upon arrival, my driver didn't have any change to give and he helped immediately. His staff are solid, professional young people, genuinely happy to help; both the desk crew and the cleaning staff were top-notch. The rooms are clean and the hotel is quiet. The rooftop view is remarkable. His mother tends the garden and it's lovely.||I stayed for a few nights and left for another hotel that offered free yoga classes. My room at the other hotel (Yog Hotel) had a gas leak that was not taken seriously by the staff. So I called New Hotel Panda and asked if they had a room. At 8pm they fixed a room for me, and even set me up with extra water and coffee remembering that I went through more than normal.||Bottom line is the the hotel is clean, the staff is professional, the price is fair to low and it's a safe, quiet place to stay supporting a family that is devoted to Kathmandu. The neighborhood is dense with activity and resources.||The ONLY issue with this hotel is a product of an environmentally conscious water heating system. The water for the shower is heated by solar power, so on cloudy days (or weeks) it's basically warm and takes quite a while to heat up. I will take a luke warm shower powered by the sun at New Hotel Panda over a gas shower heater with a leak in a room without carbon monoxide detectors at Yog Hotel any time. New Hotel panda has a generator installed for outages. They also offer free water and wifi. The food is also good and room service is available for most of the day. This hotel is a wise place to spend your accommodation dollars for your tour through Nepal.||Update: The sun came out and I've had the BEST...
