Nestled amidst the bustling tapestry of Kathmandu, Elegance Café is not merely a restaurant—it is a sanctum of gastronomic transcendence. The cuisine ascends to Olympian heights. Every dish here is an aria, composed with the artistry of a maestro. The momo platter, a triumph of tender dumplings bursting with nuanced flavors, speaks to the heart of Nepalese culinary tradition. The butter-soft lamb curry, imbued with spices that tell stories of distant markets and ancient recipes, evokes awe with every bite.
The desserts, where the humble chocolate mousse is elevated to a celestial experience—silken, decadent, and kissed with just the right whisper of sweetness.
Ah, let us not forget the pièce de résistance—the banana fritters with chocolate, served alongside ice cream. A dessert so divine, it feels almost sacrilegious to describe it in mere words.
The fritters arrive golden and gloriously crisp, their delicate batter encasing perfectly ripened banana sliced. The rich, velvety sweetness of molten chocolate dances in harmonious counterpoint with the cool creaminess of the accompanying ice cream, creating an explosion of flavor that electrifies the palate.
This is not just a dessert; it’s an epiphany. A symphony of textures and temperatures, each bite reveals a new crescendo of indulgence, leaving you both sated and yearning for just one more taste.
For those who dare to experience the sublime, the banana fritters at Elegance Café are a mandatory pilgrimage. A masterpiece that transforms the end of your meal into a grand, unforgettable finale.
Elegance Café is not merely a place to dine—it is a temple where the rituals of taste and hospitality are celebrated with reverence. For those who seek the apogee of culinary art in Kathmandu, there can be no loftier recommendation. This is, unequivocally, the best of the best—a transcendent experience that lingers long after the final sip of wine and the last wistful glance at your plate.
Ah, Ruth—the heart and soul of Elegance Café! Her presence elevates the dining experience to unparalleled heights. With a smile that could rival the warmth of the Kathmandu sun and an elegance befitting the café’s name, Ruth embodies the perfect balance of professionalism and heartfelt hospitality.
Her attentiveness is second to none. She moves gracefully through the room, her every gesture exuding poise and care. Whether she’s recommending a signature dish or ensuring your glass is never empty, Ruth’s intuition is uncanny—she seems to know exactly what you need before you do.
Bravo, Elegance...
Read moreI ordered pork sekua, beef chilli (recommended by the lady who took my order) steamed rice. The lady mentioned that my order is the last order of their day. She also offered to deliver the food to my hotel opposite their establishment.the food arrived and I swear to God...this was one of the worst meals of my life. The pork was not cooked...raw meat and raw masalas. The beef was so hard that my jaw ached chewing the pieces...the rice was half cooked and unpalatable. I have kept the pieces of pork and beef safely....I see that the restaurant owner has washed hands of any negative review posted here. Hence if you have any doubt just lemme know....I'll bring the meat for your inspection.
Edit: Responding to Cafe Owner.
Dear Amar, like I wrote earlier, you try to wash your hands off negative reviews.
I am from Kerala where water buffalo is consumed extensively. Sale of beef (cow meat) is banned in India as well. But the buff in Kerala isn't hard and rubbery like what I got at your restaurant. Accept the fact that the cook wanted to retire early as it was the last order and didn't care to cook it well. He just wanted to finish fast.
Rather than your generic comment of "we have passed on your feedback" I would have preferred a refund. But I am sure you don't care.
Also, you know how I caught your lie. In one of the comments the customer complains about being constantly attacked by the cat. And again you washed your hands off the allegation, saying it's a street cat and not part of your establishment. Guess what. I saw the cat yesterday at your restaurant and since I love cats I spoke to the lady at the counter about it. She said it is an indoor cat and belongs to your restaurant. It's name is Puntu and she also spoke about what she feeds it . So it is indeed established that's it's not a street cat.. So Mr. Tamang.....money isn't everything in life ... Customers are the reason your business is thriving..respect...
Read moreTL;DR: the food is fantastic and the owners are the kindest humans (went out of their way to help us). My favorite spot in Kathmandu.
My partner and I came here just before leaving to trek around Nepal for a few weeks - the food was so good and owners so kind & friendly that we came back as soon as we got back to Kathmandu. The food was awesome as per usual and it was so fun seeing the owners again (they immediately recognized us and welcomed us back to the city).
We had a few hours window of time between being dropped off by the bus and before having to head over to the airport. We’d planned to walk and shop around Kathmandu before taxiing. The owners were so kind to offer and allow us to stash our giant backpacking bags at the restaurant while we walked and did some final shopping for an hour or two. ANNNNDDD when we got back to the restaurant to collect our bags they helped us book a taxi.
Not sure how we were so lucky to stumble across this gem of a restaurant and gem of humans who own it, but it sure did make our time in Kathmandu feel so much more like home.
Thank you...
