Nightmare night
The first night someone got drunk and threw up in the bathroom in front of our door. They took a long time to clean it up. The owner's nephew was a caring young man who cared about our well-being and made us feel comfortable in the hostel so we stayed. But the second night was already intolerable. We went to sleep at 00 because there was lot of people downstairs. The owner was getting drunk with his friends and yelling a lot. Read moreOn long term journeys sometimes you are lucky to find a place that makes you feel at home, even though you are miles away... Funky monkey was that place for us! We felt super comfortable right away and in the end it was hard for us to say goodbye to hanging out at the rooftop or the patio while drinking a masala tea or beer, enjoying the view above Kathmandu's rooftops, sharing stories and experiences with the hostel guys and other travellers, sleeping in one of the comfiest beds we ever slept and hearing Shivas (the owner) warm 'heelloo' whenever we returned to the hostel. We spent Tihar with the guys from the hostel and felt amazingly welcome. The guys just took over the hostel, so things are starting to develop and change in beautiful ways and we would love to come back at some point to see what it grew into. We can't thank Shiva enough for everything he helped us out with, for the long conversations and for hooking us up with his tattoo artist friend that is setting up a new studio just next to the hostel and made a last minute artwork on my boyfriend.|Thank you and hope to meet again - like you said, the...
Read moreI stayed here for over 7 days (Im a female solo traveller) and everything seemed to be fine, the owner seem to be friendly and the room was decent. But in the last few days this place became a nightmare to me. I had to go to the police station to report the manager of this hostel for harassment. The manager's name is Sitanshu [-] , barged into my door by kicking the door hard and came on to me, it became violent. Thankfully, I am safe now. Lost large sum of cash in this place too!||I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, PLS...
