Newa Home — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

I had to take my time to ensure that this review does justice to Newa Home.

My friends and I decided on Newa Home due to its close proximity to many amenities (Thamel’s shopping area is just a 2 minute walk!) while giving us the little quiet we need for our rest.

This is a lodging that caters to your needs. They’re new but the little things such as multiple international wall sockets in your room, a cosy ambience and 24 hour hot water for your shower shows how the family thinks of these little conveniences for their guests.

Newa is a group of people living in a certain area in Nepal. Newa Home literally means the Newali people’s home!

And when we were there, the family treated us as one of them. We were like an extended family, living in their home. This is home away from home.

Mr Prem ensured that we did not pay exorbitant prices for things we would want to buy. He’d recommend places you may want to go and even find a comfortable ride for you!

During our second night, his son, who loves to cook, prepared a scrumptious dinner. We all sat down and ate together as family.

One of the days, Mr Prem had a very bad backache. That coincided with two of us having a bad stomach. Yet, this man tried his best to ensure that we were comfortable. He wanted to get his wife to cook for us, as street food may cause a worse stomach upset. The father of the family, putting his family first.

Even after he came back from the hospital, he was still asking us if we wanted tea, if we were warm enough.

The two ladies in our group were thinking of getting the beautiful Nepali Sarees. Mr Prem‘s wife told us that she’d bring us for tailoring so that we would get the same price as the locals. That’s a good 50% off!

During our stay, never once were we treated as hotel guests. We were family (I have to emphasize this. Simply because we were surprised by the beautiful people living in this Home).

We had the honour to meet Mr Altair’s family who were staying in the home too and we were unlucky to have only met them on our last night.

Yes, all of the “guests” in the home are family. Newa Home was the highlight of our trip. An epitome of Nepal. Friendly and close knitted.

We will gladly recommend everyone to stay here should you wish to come to Thamel/Kathmandu. Why? Because this family of theirs from Singapore, will be coming by again.

A fantastic Family run hotel offers a perfect location, breathtaking atmosphere, and exceptional staff members. The receptionist and the entire team were incredibly welcoming and helpful, leaving a wonderful first impression of family loved. The hotel excelled in every aspect, including cleanliness,Historical design, and spaciousness. Despite not having a restaurant, the dining experience was outstanding as Mr. Prem kindly invited us for a delicious dinner and breakfast. The service was attentive and efficient. The room was well-appointed and ensured a comfortable stay.
