From start to finish this was a perfectly executed experience of the Manaslu circuit trek. We hadn’t booked prior to arriving in Kathmandu. I met Amish (from Annapurna Encounters) five years ago on my first visit to Nepal where he was very helpful in organising my itinerary. After knowing we were in good hands, we went straight to the office on arrival to plan an itinerary entirely customised to the time we had available and the other things we wanted to do during our 3 weeks in Nepal. We were able to meet our hugely experienced guide Kumar before setting off to finalise all the plans and trouble-shoot any issues that we might encounter. Annapurna Encounters team were unfaultable, they organised everything from Kathmandu, to a family visit, our entire Manaslu trek, on to Chitwan and finally transportation to Pokhara and back to Kathmandu without any problems and good contact along the way. They even organised for us to have our own NCell (local) SIM card so that we had internet/contact capacity.

The main reason we ventured to Nepal was for the trekking and we were not disappointed, it was a captivating experience from start to finish thanks to our dedicated guide- Kumar. We carefully selected Manaslu avoid the over-trodden tourist routes and therefore we got the best of rural Nepal, its authentic sights and unforgiving landscapes. Kumar was excellent throughout, ensuring we always had good nutrition, sleep and hydration as well as a firm integration into the Nepali culture. He was thoughtful throughout and in the toughest of climbs, always had a snickers energy boost to hand. Most importantly, he ensured our safety, his 20+ years of experience with these treks was very apparent as he knew exactly how to acclimatise us to the altitude. We can’t thank Kumar enough for making our time here unforgettable!

The tour of Kathmandu left an incredible impression! In just one day, we managed to visit seven key UNESCO-listed landmarks, which is truly impressive. Despite the packed itinerary, everything was well-organized, and our guide ensured that we didn’t just see these places but also understood their history and significance.

Each location had its own unique atmosphere: magnificent stupas, ancient temples, and historic squares—all of which allowed us to truly experience the spirit of Kathmandu. What stood out the most was the stunningly delicate wood carvings, intricate decorations, and ornate patterns on the buildings. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were remarkable, and it’s amazing how these elements have been so well-preserved over time.

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, explaining historical and religious aspects in an engaging and accessible way. He answered all our questions and kept us interested throughout the tour.
