After some earlier experiences in Nepal with cold showers we (my boyfriend and I) explicitly asked the hotel if there was a hot shower. Not only one hour a day but the whole day. They assurred us that they had a geiser so that there would be hot water. Okay, perfect so we booked our stay for three nights.||The location of the hotel was great, in the middle of the city center. Bit pricey but okay for the location we thought. When we entered the room we saw that the room was overpriced. The room was old, badly cleaned and badly maintained. Curtains were ragged and wouldn't close, beds were awful and (of course) there was no hot water. We let the shower run for over 20 minutes and still cold water. Whe decided to go to bed and give it another try tomorrow.||Next morning still ice cold water. We were fed up and decided to go talk to the hotel owner because he promised us something he did not provide. If we had known there was no hot water in the first place, we would not have booked this hotel. We explicitly asked it and now it feels like we are fooled just so that we would book a stay with them.||The hotel owner was surly and said that it was our fault and that we used the shower the wrong way. Eventually he checked the shower and indeed ice cold. He blamed his staff but eventually gave us a little discount. We checked out and left after one night.||The hotel is not really awful but for that price there are better options...
Read moreThis is a great place to stay for the price.||||We originally stayed in a different hotel when we got to Kathmandu that was twice the price and actually not as good as this place.||After walking around checking many rooms and prices, this was the cleanest and best priced for the quality of room.||It’s in a very central location to Thamel so very easy to get to the shops, restaurants and bars of Thamel.||The staff here are super friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke English.||We got the room with a double bed and ceiling fan (we didn’t bother with AC). It was clean and airy as you can have the windows open the whole time as they’re netted (mosquito proof). It’s also quite spacious compared to rooms in other hotels.||The breakfast is pretty decent consideting it was free with the room (I think that is optional though).||There is also a tourism office downstairs (same company as the hotel). They gave us the best deal for rafting compared to the other tourism offices we checked with and were very informative about the trekking we are going to do. They also let us store our excess clothes with them that we didn’t want to take trekking with us - for free.||All in all very happy with the stay. So much so that we are staying with them when we return from our long trek in the Annapurna.||||Thanks or a great stay...
