Not normally one for 'Irish pubs' with only a token bottle of Jameson's gathering dust in the corner, but I make an exception for this one. A friendly crowd and a nice mix of expats, travellers and locals. This is definitely more in the American-Irish tradition of imposter Irish places, but if I'm doing an overnighter in KTM this has always proved a good solo spot to meet interesting people. There's usually decent music, an uneven pool table and some authentic republican graffiti in the toilets. On entry I was struck by the great feel of this bar....with only a few folk around!
Our host mega kind, and introduced my lady to a cocktail named "Why Not?" which was reasonably priced and blew her socks off. This coupled with a quite impressive beer menu enhanced our short stay, to be repeated today and tomorrow (our last night).
Music is excellent, meeting the Long Haired Sergeant Major's high standards.
In a nutshell, the best bar we have been in since leaving hone nearly 3 weeks ago. Looking forward to sone ice-cold beers later...
