Hotel ThorongLa Thamel — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

This hotel was okay. What let it down was the unstable Wi-Fi in the room. You couldn’t do anything meaningful before the signal dropped. There was no attempt to restock the room with toilet paper or water. Our room was cleaned once during a ten day stay! Simple things other hotels ask you about even if they don’t clean the room daily. In fact the room is advertised as “daily housekeeping” - it simply doesn’t happen.

A lot of the amenities highlighted on the booking sites just don’t exist. It says it has a nightclub and gym…!!!

I found it quite noisy with doors slamming and drunk people coming back in the early hours.

The atmosphere of this place feels like you are in the way and somewhat of an annoyance to them. The cleaning staff were just miserable without a smile or hello. A very impersonal experience.

It was ok. Unfortunately our room didn’t match up to the pictures which was a shame given the price paid. It was very damp with a lot of black mould in the bathroom. The room itself was clean though. Due to being in a room by the stair well it was very noisy (to be fair this was mostly due to other guests being disrespectful at early hours of the morning, not the hotels fault). You could also hear lots from the outside despite being on a back street. The room had a window above the door which let a lot of light in from the corridor making it hard to sleep. Affordable price hotel in Thamel where it was nice to stay. Helpful staff. They also have a rich food menu you can order from your room calling the reception. The only problem is that, the hot water wasn't going during the night. Room to room may vary, some is better and some not that much. Sometimes the WiFi connection is not that good and once it stopped work but they fixed it upon request. In general the beds are comfortable. True is I haven't found a better place than this in Kathmandu yet although some rooms are too dark and security items on the doors should be improved in many rooms because they're missing so guests could feel...
