I want to share a very upsetting and disappointing experience I had at Turtle Lounge & Club in Kathmandu during my recent visit from India. What was supposed to be a fun and relaxing night turned into a moment of shock and discomfort because of the unprofessional and unacceptable behavior of the staff, especially the bouncers.

While we were simply checking our bill using the flashlight on my phone — not the camera, just the flashlight — one of the bouncers came up to me and physically touched me in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. This happened without any warning or explanation. My phone nearly fell from my hands, and I was completely taken aback by how rudely I was treated for something as harmless as turning on a flashlight.

To make matters worse, the girl who was with me — my friend — felt extremely uncomfortable, scared, and deeply disappointed by the whole situation. We are tourists, here to enjoy the culture and hospitality of Nepal, and instead we were treated in a way that made us feel unsafe and disrespected.

There was no communication, no warning, and no valid reason for the bouncer to behave like that. If there was any issue, it could have been handled politely and professionally. Instead, we were met with unnecessary aggression and complete lack of courtesy.

This experience left a very negative impression, not only about the lounge but also about how tourists can sometimes be treated without any fault of their own. It’s truly sad that such places, which should be focused on customer experience, allow such behavior to take place unchecked.

I would strongly advise others, especially tourists and women, to avoid Turtle Lounge if they expect to be treated with basic respect and dignity. This was honestly one of the worst experiences of our entire trip to Kathmandu, and I hope the management takes this feedback seriously. The staff, especially bouncers, need to be properly trained in how to deal with guests and how to communicate professionally — not with aggression or physical contact.
