Blue Peaks Apartments — Hotel in South Island

The things that I liked about this accommodation was its proximity to the city centre (walkable to everywhere), the well equipped kitchen which we used to cook several meals, the 2 bathrooms included in the 2 bedroom apartment and the fact there was a washer and dryer. |The apartment building itself is quite 'higgle-piggle'. Lots of stairs and we felt quite overlooked wherever we were. The balconies are all right next to one and other and if others are out there it feels quite awkward as you are about 3 meters from the neighbours conversations. Both bedrooms backed onto a walkway to other peoples apartments which resulted in loud voices straight past where we were all sleeping early in the morning and late at night when others were coming and going. If the blinds were open at all everyone could see straight into the bedroom. |The apartment was also extremely hot in the afternoons with no fans or air con supplied (on day 2 we did request a fan and it was promptly brought to us). But one small pedestal fan really didn't help for 5 people. |There was also A LOT of partying going on while we were there... it was the week after Christmas so i get people are celebrating but with 3 young kids it was VERY noisy. There is no onsite reception and the offsite reception is only in the day so we really just had to suffer through screaming and swearing etc for hours of the night.|Overall, our stay was mostly fine and if i didnt have small kids I probably would have rated it better but for a family stay I would personally choose somewhere else...

Pros and cons : Overall the apartment was good. Great size for three adults. Loved the milk in the fridge on arrival and paper towel in the kitchen cupboard. Great that there was a tv in one of the bedrooms. Amazing view. Good location. Staff very responsive to all our messages and questions and very helpful. On arrival I was looking for power points in the room and moved the side table. I then saw an elastic band on the carpet which means cleaners don't do a thorough clean after each guest and don't move the furniture. They should be allowed more time to thoroughly clean. There was dust on the lamp. One doona had a stain on it. Really gross. The water heater in the closet was so annoying and loud each time guests used water. No block out blinds in the rooms meant the extremely bright light from the outdoor security light shone through. Overall sleep was disturbed because of these reasons and was very disappointed to have paid for this. The door handle to the balcony was broken. The lock on the toilet door was broken. The toilet seat is the wrong shape for the bowl as it doesn't cover it. We couldn't work out how the fan in the bathroom worked without having to put the heater on. It was very hot in there. For the price charged these maintenance issues should have been addressed. Note that apartments aren't serviced so you will need to take your own rubbish out and replenish your own toilet paper and...

Absolutely pleased with our accomodation choice. 5 minute walk into centre of town via a walking path right out the front of apartments in Coronation Drive, very quiet lcoation given proximity to major QT roadway, with added bonus of delegated car space for each apartment which seems to be rare in QT. We had a Triton 4WD so tight to manovoure around the apartments but no issues fitting it in the actual underground parking space. Pre warmed apartment for our arrival which is always a bonus in Winter, along with the heaters not being on a timer so never needed to worry about being cold unsuspectingly which we have encounted at other places over the years in QT. Photos on website look exactly like the apartment, no false advertising! Very clean, very tidy, and modern. We had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment and were pleasantly surprised the second bedroom had two way access to the second bathroom so pretty much also had an ensuite. Although not serviced apartments, vaccuum etc supplied if your staying a while and need to tidy up. Kitchen had all we needed although did take a while to cook some bacon so wouldnt want to be cooking large meal for a family but we had two couples so not really an issue for us. Nice view of the gondola and very minor view of the lake, however night time view beautiful. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable stay for 4 adults. Would...
