The hostel was good, the rooms clean, the location great and the breakfast included. Unfortunately the stuff was a little weird, as they gave us different information on different days. Sometimes the 3 bed room was 70 soles, sometimes it was a lot more expensive (when we came back from a tour). We booked a tour over the hostel and asked, what the meal would be (due to allergies) and she promised to ask the tour operator and tell me later. At 9.00 o'clock at night I asked about the meal and she said she didn't know, it changes every day. She recommended me to bring my own food. At 9.00 o'clock at night!? Then we had some troubles with the (hot) water, sometimes there was hot water, sometimes there was no water at all. When we asked why there was no water we were told this was normal and had been like this for weeks. Apparently there was no water after 10.00 p.m. as Cusco ran short of water. This obviously was a lie, as we had already spent about a week in Cusco and this was the first time we had no water after 10.00 p.m. Even when we told him this he insisted on his statement. ||So if you're just looking for a fairly cheap hostel at a good location and don't care about the stuff, stay at Intikahuarina. If you want to have a good service, look for...
Read moreThis is a clean, basic hostel. If traveling on a budget, this is the place for you. Stayed 5 nights the first week of May. No heat, but lots of blankets. No AC, but it never got too hot during the day. I stayed in two different rooms during my visit and the first one was extremely comfortable. The mattress in the second room is definitely do to be replaced. The bathrooms and rooms are cleaned daily. This is a Spanish speaking family that runs the place but with sign language and minimal spanish words, they can figure out what you need. Water not near as hot as us Americans are use to, but not anything we couldn't tolerate. The breakfast was simple but they didn't hesitate to cook eggs for us when we asked for them. The hostel across the street is much fancier and costs double! So keep that in mind.||||This place is near the main square, and many of the markets are within walking distance. Many nice restaurants are also within walking distance. The negative thing - is the walk back. You can't get home unless you walk up a very steep hill (or take a taxi). ||||Ask for a room on the back side, away from the main road or you might have to listen to a lot of horns during the night. ||||I felt very at home and...
Read moreIt’s a decent place in a good location, but the staff are definitely looking to rip you off any chance they can get. Several of my friends took advantage of the laundry service here today (Feb 28, 2018). They charge by weight. 5PEN per kilo, and they hid the actual weight on their scale from us and charged us more. They told me 3 kilos for my small bag. (I knew it wasn’t because I did laundry in another city with a larger amt of clothes and it was 1.6 kilos). When I went to pick up my laundry, I borrowed a weight from another hotel across the street to show that they DOUBLED the weight of my laundry. It was actually 1.5 kilos. They still wanted to charge me 15PEN because they said I should have caught them before I dropped off my clothes. Lol bold response. I paid him what I thought was fair, which was still a little more than what I should have paid, and walked out with my clothes. My friends were all ripped off too. Probably better to support a B&B where the staff are honest. The people here are shameless about scamming tourists and they really shouldn’t be...
