When I read the description of the 2 days tour offered by this place, I was expecting some kind of immersion in the Amazon forest and to get to know more about its culture and wildlife.||We ended up being part of one of these mass tourist tours where they drop us from a tourist attraction to another... ||||On the first day someone was waiting for us at the airport and after walking us out to the taxi asked for a tip before we boarded the taxi. Pretty bad start for an all inclusive package if staff asks for tips after 5 minutes in town.||Once we get to their office in iquitos, staff there don't really seem to be very organised. After making us wait for a while we are told to board a bus with some other people. The bus goes but then drives back to pick up additional passengers. When we get to the boat, there are close to 40 people on the same tour as us!||The guide will change for each half day excursion and since English speaking tourists are a minority (I would say more than 90% are Peruvians) we ended up most of the time with guides speaking only Spanish and we had to ask what was happening. Also, as English speaking foreigners we felt like outsiders and unwelcome.||There is no choice for the food provided and you will have to queue with your plate to get served as you would do in a canteen in high school. Be prepared to eat loads of rice as this is the base for each meal. ||The swimming pool looked nice and was warm but too bad most of locals did not shower before jumping straight into the water after a full day in the heat...||All the animals you will see are in a cage or locked and seem to be there only to be shown to tourists. ||The local tribe that you meet performs a dance in a place which is not their village but a place to accommodate tourists and sell souvenirs. ||The walks are very limited so locals (whom many are unfit) are able to walk the short distances. It makes most the experience superficial and uninteresting.||To summarise, if you are a foreigner and look for some authentic experience in the Amazon,...

Read moreA friend of mine in Lima had heard of this place from a friend so we decided to go when I came to visit. I was pleasantly surprised. We did the 2 nights and 3 days all inclusive. The cabin they put you up in is rustic and on stilts above water, has a hammock on front and a view if the amazon. It has wood paneled walls topped with a screen to keep bugs out and the interior cool. Curtains assure appropriate level of privacy though i cant say i think all noises from the inside were kept inside. We had a shared wall with the unit next door. The mattresses were comfortable though definitely not new. The sheets were definitely not new either. I may consider bringing my own. The bathroom wasn't luxurious but was adequate. ||The provided 3 meals a day that felt and tasted home cooked. I had no complaints of the quality or proportions of the meals.||After running into people from other camps I realized that everyone goes to about the same places. So, you're really paying for the accommodation. And, they kept you busy enough to see everything but not so busy that is was too tiring. The actual schedule in time in the afternoon just to relax.||The only issue I could say may be a problem was the lack of an English speaking tour guide while I was there, though as I was coming there multilingual tour guide was going on leave as I was coming in. They were organized enough that even with minimal Spanish you'd be fine. Most of the places you go someone speaks English anyway and if you ever get caught up on a word someone comes.out of the wood work to help out. ||In short this place is about value and a cool location over luxurious accommodations. It has what you need in a...
