--- Very disappointing --- Tourist trap In June 2024, I did a 3-days private tour with Amazon Lodge & Expeditions I am quite adventurous and very easygoing regarding the accommodation conditions but found plenty of cockroaches, and mosquitos (the net was drilled/broken) into the room and on my bed. I was having water only 1 time a day and the water was coming directly from the Amazonia and the one they use for drinking, they just filter it. The other guy doing a private tour left the following day as he was very scared by that (and by a very deceiving ayahuasca ceremony). Regarding the activities, I was very disappointed. Between what they promised at the beginning and what you actually get… We did not really looked for crocodiles or frogs/Sapo. I did not learn much as they promised the guide was supposed to tell me a lot about fauna/flora. The all 3 days were about waiting in the camp. The price you actually cost them would be less than 10% of their costs. Be really careful...

Their facility and ceremonies are as safe as they can be, especially considering solo travelers. This is a place for deep healing and the shamans on site care about you, your mentality and your health and safety. The food provided is beyond delicious. Nothing in the city of Iquitos compares. I came to this place not knowing what to expect and left with new lifelong friends. Nilton is an incredible shaman and mentor and the whole experience is extremely relaxing and safe. Super recommendation! The medicine is authentic and safe, free from any dangerous elements and preparations. There are several ways to experience the Amazon Rainforest here in Iquitos, but few might be as authentic and welcoming as this. Solo female travelers are SAFE here. Groups with children are SAFE here. Enjoy your stay and if you are reading this review, it's for a...
Read moreI stayed with Amazon Lodge and Expeditions in 2011. I researched all the tours before hand and this was the best price for what was on offer. Nilton was an excellent guide. He tailored the experience to suit what I wanted to see ( Many trips to try to locate pink dolphins which we did eventually). The lodge was basic but perfectly fine and I thought the food provided was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 days I spent in the rainforest and the staff at Amazon Lodge and Expeditions really made it a memorable experience. We got to see many amazing lagoons, fishing for piranhas, pink dolphins monkeys and much more. Seeing the shamen prepare the ayawaska was an eye opener and listening to other people’s experiences of it was very interesting. Overall I highly recommend this company and definitely...
