ECL Resort Hotel Boracay — Hotel in Malay

My spouse and I recently enjoyed a three-night stay at ECL Resort Hotel Boracay, it was our first time in this property and overall, it was a delightful experience. Here’s a detailed breakdown of our stay:

Features:

Friendly Staff: Every staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating, always greeting us with a warm smile. Special kudos to the front desk team for their excellent rapport and prompt assistance.

Room Quality: Despite booking a standard room, the accommodation felt very premium. The king-size bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was impeccably clean. The air conditioning was exceptionally effective, ensuring a cool and comfortable environment throughout our stay.

Bathroom: The bathroom was spacious and modern, equipped with a rainfall shower and a telephone shower. The sink was large and everything had excellent water heating performance. The toilet was modern, eco-friendly with low water consumption, and included a bidet, though the bidet did have some issues coping with the high water pressure.

Wi-Fi Connectivity: The hotel offered strong Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing me to work continuously without any interruptions. All areas I visited had excellent internet connectivity.

Breakfast Experience: Although we didn’t get a chance to order from their kitchen beyond the included breakfast in our booking, we were content with the offerings. The breakfast wasn’t buffet style, but there were various options to choose from with generous portions. They also had a salad bar, unlimited breakfast soup, and a variety of beverages. However, the coffee provided was instant coffee. Since we prefer brewed coffee, we ordered from their coffee bar instead. Unfortunately, our caramel macchiatos had barely any coffee taste, and we weren’t sure if they used a bean-to-cup machine or a traditional espresso machine, but all I can say is they need to adjust the bean dose and improve on their coffee taste.

Location: The hotel’s location was very convenient, situated right on the main road with easy access to public transportation. It was perfect for my work needs due to the quiet environment, in contrast to the beachside area where nightlife parties are held. Despite not being a beachside hotel, it was a short and easy walk to the beach. The location is also close to various restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops. Additionally, there's a mini mart within the building. The area felt safe, thanks to good lighting and visible police presence.

Cons:

Lack of Certain Amenities: Safety deposit box and luggage surface not available for standard rooms

Bidet Issues: Bidet can barely keep up with the high water pressure.

Room Key Policy: Only one key which also powers the room. Need to call front desk each time you need to open the room.

Weak Mobile Signal: Inside our room, the mobile signal was weak, making it difficult to send SMS and make outbound calls. I used Globe, so the experience might differ with Smart.

Coffee Bar Quality: The coffee from the coffee bar was disappointing, with our caramel macchiatos lacking a proper coffee taste.

Not a buffet breakfast, compared to most hotels in the area.

Conclusion:

Despite a few minor drawbacks, our stay at ECL Resort Hotel Boracay was highly enjoyable. I'd like to stress out that these drawbacks listed, didn't really affect our stay. The exceptional staff service, comfortable and clean rooms, modern bathroom facilities, reliable Wi-Fi, and convenient location more than made up for the minor inconveniences. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and look forward to returning...

Water Heater: Contrary to one of the reviews here, the rooms are equipped with heater (both shower and sink), you just have to turn left the faucet.

Rooms: The rooms are spacious and can accommodate additional guests if you would exceed the allowable maximum guest based on your booking. As to the restroom, some features (i.e. bidet, shower head) needs maintenance as some of it were either loose or clogged.

Cleanliness: The building, though quaint, looks new and well-maintained. The rooms and the hotel itself looked presentable and clean. Though some sheets contain some old stain (not much of a concern to us).

Staffs: Our stay was without a hitch due to their attentive and friendly staffs. It felt nice to stay in a place where staffs were always smiling and helpful with their guests. My partner had our room decorated as a birthday surprise and told me that staffs were accommodating to their requests.

Breakfast: Although it’s not a buffet-style, their complementary breakfasts were surprisingly good. They also have unlimited sides and drinks available for breakfast.

Location: The location of the hotel is very convenient as it is just along the main road and beside a grocery store. It’s 10-15min walk to the beach through the alley next to Hue Hotel and 5-10min walk from E-mall (we prefer to walk in station x especially at night since it was well lit than the other alley).

Pros: Accommodating staffs, spacious rooms, location, free breakfast.

Needs improvement: Restroom needs maintenance and improvement (the bidet in one of the rooms we booked caused flooding on the toilet floor).

Shampoo and shower gel in some rooms are not readily available. Room attendants should always check the toiletries before guests come in.

Some rooms have a “kulob” smell. Especially those in the 3rd floor.

Overall: We enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back and recommend it to our friends...

Our 4D3N (w/ breakfast) stay at ECL Hotel and Resort in Boracay was fantastic!

HOTEL STAFF. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome with their warm hospitality. They gave us complimentary cucumber lemonade drink upon arriving. I believe that one of the factors to have a good stay is the staff, they're so friendly and everytime we go inside/outside, they always greeted us with a smile, always open the door for us. I forgot to get their names but all of them were great even the room attendants. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable! 💗

ROOM. We booked the Superior Quadruple Room that is good for 4pax through Agoda app. It was clean and spacious enough. Cabinets, great, coz you can store your luggages on the other side. Air-conditioning was great too. Towels and toiletries were also provided. The only downside is that they don't have a coffee table so it's hard to eat inside the room. They have WI-FI but we only got connected to it several times coz it's slow.

PLATED BREAKFAST. They have 5 options to choose from: American, Sausage, Continental, Boracay, and Sports Breakfast. Their beef tapa is good but I didn't like the tocino. Other options were toasts. I didn't get to try them but my friends said it's okay. They said that they do buffets too depending on the number of hotel guests.

LOCATION. The hotel is located at station 3 and it's quite good, it's in the main road and just a 5-minute walk from the famous White Beach, which made it so easy to go back and forth. Their building is beside a mini-mart so it's very convenient. It's also near to laundromat, restaurants and convenience stores.

OVERALL. I hope they promote their hotel more. Hire a SNS marketing person. Since we are in an age where internet and technology's so advance that almost everyone are using it. Thank you so much ECL~ We will...
