DO NO ORDER WHITE WINE. Food was okay. We were starving so we finished all. However, we expected more for the price paid. We tried several restaurants in different islands with lower price and we liked them much more. Ambience was very nice, traditional and fun with dancing on the site. Please owner, REMOVE white wine from the list if you cannot take care of the bottles because it is horrible and ruined all the experience. First we ordered “two oceans” and the color of the wine was middle orange, once tried it was itchy in the mouth and very bad taste so we explained to the waiter that we were sorry but we could not drink it. She came back saying she would be charged for the bottle which was very expensive and we asked to talk to a manager but wasn’t there. A responsible person came and we explained about the wine and showed a picture of the bottle which is supposed to be clear white wine not dark yellow which means it was too old or was left under the sun. She said other customers complained about and then offered to order an other white one and we ordered Australian “yellow tail” and once she came back with the bottle and the other waiter, she threatened us saying “this is your last choice, even if you don’t like you must pay it so are you aware that this is your last choice”? I was kind of shocked of how can somebody be so impolite after serving something which was expired/bad and I was ready to leave the restaurant but my partner wanted to order that bottle as he is stubborn and wanted to give an other chance. Second bottle was dark glass outside so it was not possible to see the real color of the one. Once poured and tried it was also bad and dark yellow but drinkable (in our country they would not have served it at all and we would have returned it without hesitating) and we managed to drink half of it to let the food go down as flavor was so so. Following day worst headache ever…. When waiter came to ask how was it we said “bad but we are just going to pay it no worries”. Of course no discount was made and bottle was 2000 pesos (it’s a cheap wine in Australia) plus all food and service charges and taxes. I know Philippines is not a country of wine but if you have wine in a restaurant of such prices please serve the good ones or remove from the list. I wouldn’t have complained in a beach restaurant of 5€ but this was a joke. I usually don’t do bad reviews but after the treatment we received I need to share with the community.

If you're yearning for an exceptional dining experience that combines delicious Filipino cuisine with a nostalgic trip back in time, look no further than Subo in Boracay. This extraordinary restaurant masterfully captures the essence of an old Philippine setup, taking you on a captivating journey to the past while indulging your taste buds with incredible flavors. Upon stepping into Subo, I was immediately transported to a bygone era. The attention to detail in the decor, with its antique furnishings, vintage photographs, and traditional Filipino artworks, is simply awe-inspiring. It's evident that the owners have poured their hearts into creating an ambiance that reflects the rich heritage of the Philippines. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food. Subo's menu is a true treasure trove of Filipino culinary delights. From the first bite to the last, each dish surpassed my expectations. The flavors were authentic and skillfully crafted, showcasing the diverse and vibrant nature of Filipino cuisine. What truly sets Subo apart, however, is its incredibly hospitable staff. From the moment I entered the restaurant until the time I left, I was greeted with warmth and genuine Filipino hospitality. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and enthusiastically guided me through the various dishes, ensuring I made the most of my dining experience. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor made me feel like a valued guest, and they were always ready to accommodate any special requests. Subo truly encapsulates the essence of Filipino culture, not just through its cuisine but also through the warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's a place where one can savor mouthwatering food while immersing oneself in the rich tapestry of Philippine history. Whether you're a local or a traveler visiting Boracay, Subo is an absolute must-visit. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Subo to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience. The food is superb, the staff is remarkable, and the nostalgic ambiance will transport you to a different era. Subo has left an indelible mark on my culinary journey, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal. We celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday in Boracay and we found this restaurant, Subo Boracay. It’s located between stations 2 and 3, near Malay Police Station, you really have to look for it because it’s not found at the beachfront. Being in countless restaurants serving Filipino food, we had the expectations that at the very least, it would be at par with the luxury Pinoy restos. What we didn’t expect is that it would make it different, in a good way. The dish names sound normal, but they are everything but. We ordered Kare Kare which is really great, with authentic shrimp paste. We also bought Bulalo which, for a Caviteño living near Tagaytay, is a staple but they made it unique without losing the essence of what makes it Bulalo. They also have their version of blood stew or dinuguan that is quite crispy (our least favorite of all but it’s still good nonetheless) and the Bicol Express which they call Bagnet Express, since they used real bagnet (deep fried pork belly, from North Luzon) pieces and not just diced up pork pieces. We also ordered their Bagoong Rice (stir fried rice in shrimp paste) that includes green mango and tomato salad to make it very local and authentic. Finally, we ordered leche flan as dessert. Now I am someone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth but I really loved their version. Normally, leche flan is prepared with sugar syrup as base. Their version uses sugar syrup, infused with orange pieces that balanced the sweetness with the zest. If ever you found yourself in Boracay, do give Subo restaurant a try to see what I mean. Not just for the food but also the hospitality of their crew.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Subo, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Located in a cozy corner of town, this restaurant offers a fantastic culinary journey with its delectable Filipino cuisine.

Upon entering Subo, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance was relaxed yet vibrant, perfect for a casual dining experience or a gathering with friends and family.

Now, let's talk about the food - absolutely outstanding! We ordered a variety of dishes, including sisig, pochero, and a refreshing watermelon lychee juice. Each dish was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared.

The sisig, in particular, stole the show for me. Served sizzling hot, the combination of perfectly seasoned pork, tangy calamansi, and crispy texture was simply irresistible. It's no wonder it's a favorite among many diners.

The pochero was another highlight, with tender meat, hearty vegetables, and a rich, savory broth that warmed the soul. Paired with steamed rice, it was the ultimate comfort food.

To wash it all down, we indulged in the watermelon lychee juice, a refreshing and fruity beverage that complemented our meal perfectly. It was the ideal thirst-quencher on a warm day.

In addition to the fantastic food, the service at Subo was top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.

Overall, my visit to Subo was nothing short of exceptional. With its great food, inviting atmosphere, and excellent service, it's a restaurant I'll definitely be returning to again and again. If you're a fan of Filipino cuisine or simply appreciate delicious food, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Subo - you won't be disappointed!

P.S shout out to KD for serving us. Very friendly and He helped us...
