We booked a 3D2N stay, and when we arrived, the staff helped us right away and gave us refreshing welcome drinks while we waited to check in. The hotel really lived up to its name, Tropics Hotel, because it felt very relaxing and tropical. There were lots of trees and plants around, which made the place feel peaceful and cozy.
We got the Barkada Room since there were six of us, and it was very spacious. There were big mirrors all over, so it was easy to check our outfits. The beds were wide and had extra storage. There was also a work area for our friends who needed to work. The aircon was really cold, so cold that some of us couldn’t sleep on the first night. The wifi was strong.
The bathroom was big and clean. It had an overhead shower with hot and cold water, a big mirror, and free soap and shampoo. Everything we needed was there.
The staff were very friendly and quick to respond. They cleaned the room while we were out and always left new towels, extra bottled water, and made sure the room looked neat. They were just one call away, which was very helpful.
The free breakfast buffet was my favorite part. The food changed every day, which was great because it always felt like something new. The food was warm, fresh, and tasted really good. The staff were also very helpful when we asked for eggs to be cooked. I always looked forward to breakfast.
The pool was nice too. Since the hotel has a lot of trees, sometimes feathers or pollen would float in the water, but the pool was still warm and relaxing.
I really recommend this hotel, 10/10, if you’re looking for a place to stay that’s comfortable, clean, and...
Read moreThe staff was lovely and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and comfy, especially with the garden view. If you are given a room on the street, the noise from bikes and trucks is quite unpleasant. I happened to be there over Lunar New Year and the live music from the surrounding bars/restaurants was very bothersome. I'd call before staying here and ask what the music arrangements are for your stay.
The wifi is only available in the lobby and barely reaches the room. So essentially no wifi.
So the beach, my goodness the rules are endless. Since they have reopened after the cleanup you are no longer allowed to do anything on the beach besides sit and swim. No chairs, no umbrellas, no drinks or food. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation this is not the island for you. The beach is lined with a lively assortment of restaurants, bars and shopping and swarmed with people. You were shoulder to shoulder when walking on the boardwalk.
The hotel books the island boat transfer for you which is lovely and convenient. The sales office here is more expensive than the other hotels. They charges us 2100p per person and other places were charging 1900.
There is a great hop on, hop off bus that will get you around the whole island. Initially you spend 100p for your first ride and then...
