Our stay at Bamboo Beach Resort was a mixed experience of both good and bad. For context, we had made arrangements to stay at this establishment through a tour package organized by a different company - one that was not affiliated with the resort. Thus, I’m not privy to how much we actually paid for the room. I’ll start off with the positive aspects of our stay: -Their staff was great and very accommodating. We arrived at around 9 AM and they were able to check us in our room as early as 10 AM. -The lady staff who was assigned during the night shift was incredibly empathetic and understanding of our situation* (I’ll expound on this more later). -We had queen size beds and the room itself was spacious. The air conditioning system provided a continuous blast of refreshing cold air. -Generous breakfast portions were provided. -It’s a beach front property and we were even able to leave our valuables with the security team when we went out for a swim. -It’s close to various food establishments, paluto restaurants, convenience store, and souvenir stalls. All amenities and some attractions are conveniently within walking distance. - Beach towels were provided. - We were given the option to leave our keys at the front desk for safe keeping. -Our last room (Room 322) was perfect - it was furnished with all the amenities (kettle, phone, drying rack, and sharp tv reception) we didn’t have in our first room (Room 129) plus a balcony with a sitting area. Here are the downsides we had experienced during our stay. We had to change rooms twice during our 4 day trip. - We observed a sizable rat concealed beneath the foliage near the entrance of our room, which was Room 129. - As we were leaving the aforementioned room, we unexpectedly encountered two rats chasing each other along the pathway outside our bedroom door, with one of them accidentally brushing against my friend's foot. We stayed cooped up in our Rm 129 the rest of the night as we didn't want to risk the possibility of the rat/s entering our room. - Incomplete amenities in Rm 129. We had no telephone, drying rack, and kettle. - The bathrooms have no shower curtain/divider between the shower area and the toilet. You have to be mindful of how you position the shower head so that the items you place on the toilet lid won't end up drenched. The floor is slopped to the drainage however, the water would end up pooled infront of the water closet. - As we stepped into our second room (Room 222), an overpowering unpleasant smell greeted us. We then figured out that the kitchen’s exhaust was directly below our balcony. Given that there was also a huge gap between the door and the door frame, the smell from the exhaust would waft into the room. - Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the exhaust system was noisy. Please take note that their kitchen operates throughout the day, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the last order being taken at midnight. Consequently, it is reasonable to anticipate that both odors and noise may persist until late at night. We once again requested to be moved to a different room. - Aside from that, there were dead cockroaches littered across the pathways leading to the dining hall/restaurant/front of the resort. - Furthermore, the breakfast experience was marred by the significant presence of flies on the table linens. In a nutshell, had we been assigned to Room 322 from the start, I'd probably give them a solid 4.

-BAD SERVICE WITH RUDE STAFF -DIRTY ROOMS WITH UNFIXED FURNITURE DAMAGE -BAD SMELLS (DO NOT RECOMMEND) SERVICE: We entered the reception of the resort exhausted from traveling. (We are 12 PAX) We were then greeted with quite sullen receptionists who addressed me as Norma who was my helper taking care of the kids. I then clarified my name, Christine and that they should come to me for any concerns regarding the booking/resort stay. They then asked for the guests birth certificates or valid ID. I showed them photos of the certificates but they refused to inspect them requesting it to be emailed right away. They would not let us check in until they saw it but we already showed them photos of it but they wanted it emailed; but we were already very tired of our travels and not to mention we had 5 kids with a PWD and 2 SENIOR CITIZENS traveling with us and we really needed some rest before these lengthy processes. Eventually we sent them the email of the requested photos and they handed us the keys but when the SAME receptionist called again they started calling for “Norma” again ignoring me right in front of them. I believe it is important that hotel/resort staff address guests properly and show care for the current situations of the guests and not just call for whatever name they still remember. We called them by the phone after a few days to talk about the breakfast/checkout and they still had me addressed as Norma my helper. The staff had nothing to say or proper apology about this matter. STAFF WAS VERY SULLEN AND QUITE RUDE I really hope the staff do something about these concerns and improve. ROOM: The room was very disappointing. Many parts of it were poorly lit and dusty while the bathroom had a FOUL SMELL. They had a HOLE IN THE DOOR THAT WAS JUST COVERED IN TISSUE WHEN WE ARRIVED! Ventilation was not very good. Especially at night many people start smoking and bringing even worse smells in the room. The sound control of the room was poor and loud music and sounds can be heard at night. The hallway of the resort smelled quite odd and old.. The free breakfast buffet was only ok but not worth it for its individual price. WE JUST DECIDED TO CHANGE RESORTS AFTER ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED. (we could not checkout early or cancel some days because the booking was non refundable and came with our airfare so we just left!) BAD EXPERIENCE! MUCH MORE BETTER PLACES TO STAY FOR SIMILAR PRICES.

I highly recommend this place for those who want beach front lodging without paying a premium. The staff were super nice, accommodated every request we had, and made our transfers go smoothly. They have their own van so even though we opted for a shared transfer, it still felt pretty private. There was always someone to help us from the moment we landed at the airport, until we had to leave Caticlan. Rooms: I'd say it was pretty good for the price. We chose the premier room and stayed at room 311. They provided us with shower gel, soap, and a bamboo drying rack. The fridge was pretty old and didn't really cool but we didn't actually use/need it so it's fine. The AC kept the room cool enough, and there were already stains on the sheets when we arrived (they have a strict policy about staining the sheets and will fine you). Fortunately, they must have noticed the stains before because we didn't get fined. The stains were pretty small, like something you'd get from a rusty peg, so we didn't mind. Our room, 311, was right above V hub- I think it's of the food parks in the area. It gets really loud at night and in the afternoons. It's a good thing that we were too exhausted from walking and swimming to mind it too much. Staff: We had welcome drinks, and they will carry your stuff if you opt for the transfer. They're also easy to approach, and since there's so many people working there, you will always be accommodated. They let us borrow some beach towels at least twice a day, and these towels were always freshly washed and warm. They also cleaned our room every other day (you need to request for this at 2pm). Food: It's right next to Andoks and there's 7/11 nearby, so you can definitely save money. The place also has one of the cheapest buffets on the beach, and guests get a discount during the dinner buffet. Their food is okay, but it can be a hit or miss. For example, their nilaga is great but the carrot cake bites are dry. Or their menudo is okay but the pasta is too sweet. It's still alright if you're looking to save some money on this crazy expensive island. Overall: We'd definitely come back because the highlight is the beach. We came to boracay to enjoy the clear water and sand and Bamboo Beach Resort lets you do this without paying breaking the bank.

I went to Boracay on several occasions and stayed in various hotels and resorts. This time I made the decision to stay at Bamboo Beach Resort with my friends and family. I have reserved 3 bedrooms for our stay. When we checked in on the first two rooms, it was fine, but when my friend checked in on the 3rd room, that's when the problem began.

My friend brought her niece, so she paid another 1,500 for her, which is okay since her niece is 16. However, the front desk officer also wants to charge an additional 1500 for her 9-year-old son. I explained to the front desk officer that according to Agoda, "Guests aged 13 and over are considered adults and adult prices apply when staying at this property". We showed her the information from Agoda's Mobile application. The front desk officer told us that they have a different policy, that they only consider a kid a "child" is if that kid is 8 years old and below. So I asked her, "you mean to stay that the information shown in Agoda is fake?" which the front desk officer arrogantly answered, "YES!" I know it's useless to talk to her, so I asked her to call her manager. She said her manager would say the same thing to me, but I insisted on speaking with the resort's manager.

The manager made us wait for almost 30 minutes and when we explained to her the situation, she became rude and sarcastically told us to reach out to Agoda since we booked with Agoda and not with them. I told her that she needs to contact Agoda because they're the ones in partnership with Agoda but she strongly said, "NO!". I asked her again, so Agoda is posting false information, the manager proudly answered, "YES!". My friend and I ended paying another 1500 for her 9 year old child since we don't want to spend more time dealing with unhelpful and uncooperative staff of the resort. They are the worst!!!

Also, there is always a shortage of water in the bathroom and you have to wait 20-30 minutes from the time that you report it before they take action. On our second day, I asked the staff to empty the trash bin located in our balcony, but they never did, we had to ask them 3 times and they only emptied the bin after 24 hours.

I've stayed in many hotels and resorts here in the Philippines and overseas, but so far it's the worst place I've ever stayed in. The place and location is fine, but the people who work at this resort have made our stay terrible due to their...
