My family and I stayed at MGH Alona Resort for four days. The location is superb. We are just few minutes away from from Alona Beach, and there are plenty of restaurants, bars, ATMs and convenience stores just outside the hotel.

The rooms are spacious and well-kept. The beds are comfy and the air conditioning is working perfectly. The television, refrigerator, and kettle are working fine too. (Make sure to check the kettle as they usually have white chalks inside).

The comfort room is clean, but they do not have a bidet. There's a hot and cold shower, a good supply of shampoo, body wash and basic toiletries. They also provide three sets of towels that you can you for the beach, after bathing and for your face.

The swimming pool is well maintained. The water is clean - around 5 feet deep. There are recliners that you may use to sunbathe, and they have tables and chairs that you can use in case you want to eat by the pool or do some work.

Speaking of work, their WIFIs have decent speed, but I always get disconnected. If you work remotely and your attendance is strictly being monitored, this may cause a problem.

The breakfast starts at 6:30AM. Filling and decent, but we had the same menu for three consecutive days. They also have cheaper drinks compared to the prices outside the hotel.

The service is good. The staffs are helpful and courteous. However, I've never seen them smile except when we check-out. They all look tensed and worried in the presence of the Korean guy who seemed to be the manager or the owner. I find him intimidating too, as if he is watching my every move. Haha!

This hotel is also very strict with hotel guests / visitors. You will be called out for bringing outside guests and the staff will kick them out instantly (I've seen this happen four times during our stay). They are also very particular with the number and age of the guests. They wanted to charge as extra because my four year old nephew doesn't look like four years old. Good thing we brought his ID and birth certificate for their reference.

Considering the price, cleanliness, security and amenities, I highly recommend staying at MGH...

We booked this resort out of desperation as our trip to Bohol was planned out of impulsiveness.

Most of the hotels and resorts we were eyeing were fully booked or with just 1 room remaining and cannot accommodate our whole family.

Upon doing a Google map search of accommodations that are just steps away from Alona Beach, I found this resort and they happen to have available rooms on our dates. So we booked asap and just wished for the best.

The photos they have on Facebook might turn you off because they are low quality and not at all edited. We're so surprised that for such an affordable rate (Php1500 for a 2pax room), the rooms were truly decent and felt homey.

Things we liked the most: The mattresses are high quality and back sleeper friendly! The split type aircon units are new and cold, pairs well with the fleece blankets they provided hehe Housekeeping is great, floors were mopped to make it squeaky clean, beach towels/bath towels/hand towels + tissue were all replaced with new ones the next day Hot shower is working and water pressure is okay, bathroom is clean Swimming pool is heated!!! Plus there are floaters that you can use for free Free wifi + free drinking water There is a balcony where we can hang wet clothes The rooms were really big! So much space for luggges Really friendly staff and owner. Trustworthy staff - I left my earrings somewhere when I went swimming and the staff returned it to me 🤍 A few steps away from the beach and the location is very near establishments, restaurants, and fastfood chains like Jollibee and Mcdo

For improvement: I wished they had bidets in the bathroom as well.

Commending the owner for making our 1500/night stay so worth it! 🙏🏼 Thank you ahjussi! Would certainly book here again once we come back...

TOO STRICT HOTEL RULES !! the owner is a elderly korean male who is always roaming around and command his staff ! here are his strict hotel rules ! 1) not allowed to view the room before you decide to check in !! (they only show you photos), 2) swimming pool use strictly from 8 am to 8 pm only, 3) not allowed to have a massage inside the room !! 4) not allowed to have a visitor in the room !! 5) not allowed to barrow a knife (to cut a water melon) 6) not allowed to park in front of the hotel (parking is at the back of the hotel but there is only space for 4 car's and a very small road going there) ! the rooms are nice with a good split aircon, big bed and a small fridge ! there was a TV but zero channels ! (no cable and no local channels at all) the WIFI signal inside the room was weak ! no bidet shower and the exhaust fan in the bathroom was very noisy ! after a shower the batroom was flooding ! most rooms are around/near the pool and its very noisy special when "local" tourists or/and their kids using the pool ! saturday and sunday they started to use the pool exactly at 8 am so i could only sleep with earplugs ! i choosed this resort because it looked new and clean and they offered a promo rate of php 1500 per night instead of their regular rate of php 3000 also the walking distance to alona beach are just a few minutes ! FAZIT nice renovated hotel, good location but too many rules and i felt like big brother watching me ! the employee's are nice but seems they are scared of their strict boss and they get only paid the minimum wage of approx php 360 per day as they told us. right now 26 rooms operating but they have totally more...
