Read moreLet's get the positives out of the way:
• The staff from, check-in to check-out, were friendly, genuine, courteous, and accommodating. My wife and I had zero issues from any of the staff here. • This location was close to everything we needed to go to. Anywhere in BGC, Venice Grand Mall, MOA or Malate. Everywhere was not more than 30 minutes away, and only because of the traffic.
That's really all about it....
Negatives:
• Poor complimentary amenities. Let me explain. Every year I take my wife to a luxurious hotel vacation for her birthday for a night or two. Sofitel (twice), Okada, Nüwa, the Grand Hyatt BGC, Shangri-la, and last year Salil Hotel Riverside, Bangkok. Each time I was asked what the occasion it was we were celebrating during booking. No matter what it was, we were treated with a cake, flowers, a greeting card and balloons. Sometimes it's just the cake and card and sometimes it all of it. Nonetheless, we were given a token of their gratitude which we gladly appreciated. ♡♡♡ The Hilton, however, offered all this at a price. And from the pictures of the birthday packages they were selling, it did not look remotely worth it. This was extremely disappointing since I felt like the Hilton did not give us a personal touch to not even bother with a simple greeting card. • Standard 3 pm check-in. However, our room was not ready and my wife and I waited until just past 4 pm. We were given a couple of drink vouchers to spend at the Madison Lounge, however. At Sofitel, (when our room wasn't ready) even though we were not members at the time, they let us have full access to their Lounge with all it had included. Pastries, snacks and beverages! When the time came and our room was ready, Sofitel came and got us personally to lead us there. The Hilton, only paged us, and still we waited in line for the other customer in front to finish his check-in before being given our room keys. • The poolside view was nice for the room I booked, but that's as far as it goes. Everything about this place suggests that they were trying to save money. Our room was spartan, and in need of a renovation. • Of course, there were complementary bottled water, but the coffee and tea was extremely laughable. I mean, what kind of five star hotel doesn't serve coffee pods or even drip coffee. Instead, we were given abysmal generic instant coffee. The least they can do is provide us with a name, brand instant coffee and tea. It really did feel as though the Hilton was trying to cut the cost down which is something they shouldn't do if they consider themselves to be an affluent hotel chain. • The gym was adequate. Nothing special about it. • The outdoor pool was nice and spacious, but the water was not heated. Nor were there any hot tubs available on site. I was shocked to learn that I had to make a reservation for the sheraton side if I wanted to use a hot tub, and not only that, I would have to pay for it as well. • The breakfast and dinner buffet was average at best. The selection was limited and it was an odd choice to separate the sushi bar from the rest of the food that they served.
In conclusion, no I would not stay at this location again nor am I keen on trying other Hilton locations in the future.
However, I want to reiterate how truly great the employees are. They all work hard and they are all smiles and professionals. If it weren't for them, I would have given this location a one...
Read moreI chose the Hilton for a mini getaway both from the good reviews and convenient location near the airport. I stayed 4 nights at the Hilton Manila and overall had a good experience, with a few small areas for improvement.
I arrived early (7:30 AM) after a 15-minute walk from Terminal 3. Check-in was friendly and took place on the 3rd floor. As I had Executive Lounge access, I was brought up to the 5th floor lounge while waiting for my room. Camille and the other staff were polite and helpful, but I wish I’d been given a clearer estimate of when my room would be ready — it wasn’t available until 1:30 PM.
The location is excellent: right across from an upscale mall with good dining and shopping options, plus a 7-Eleven next door for snacks or essentials. There’s also a covered walkway on the 2nd floor — very handy if it rains.
The Executive Lounge was spacious and comfortable, offering a good selection at breakfast, tea time, and light dinner (limited but enough for a meal). The downstairs breakfast buffet was outstanding, with lots of variety. One thing to watch out for: if you have lounge access and pay for breakfast, you might end up double-paying unless you clarify at booking.
My room (510) on the same floor as the lounge was clean and comfortable. The two double beds were great, each with four pillows. The balcony had a nice pool view, though it’s not covered — something to keep in mind during rainy season. I also noticed a gap at the bottom of the balcony door, so some pool noise came through.
Room features were thoughtful: a work desk with power and USB ports (though it could use a desk lamp), a minibar fridge with space for your own items, coffee maker, kettle, and bottles of water. Temperature controls were simple and worked well. The large TV had Chromecast and HDMI options. Storage could be better — there wasn’t much drawer space, and the cupboards weren’t as practical as they could be.
The bathroom was modern and clean, but the shower taps could use clearer markings for hot/cold, and hot water was occasionally slow or inconsistent. Lighting controls were also a bit confusing — some switches needed multiple clicks, and the hallway light couldn’t be turned on independently.
The pool area is a highlight: large, with plenty of seating, a bar, and cabanas (available for rent). Internet speeds were fine, ranging between 10 and 40 Mbps, and the elevators were very quick — I never waited more than 20 seconds.
In short: a convenient, comfortable stay with friendly staff and great amenities. I’d definitely stay again — just a few small quirks to...
