Read moreHave stayed in a number of Marriott hotels mostly for business travel, but looked forward to staying at the Sheraton because it's new & with an impressive pool. This stay was extra special because this is the first time I brought my child for an overnight hotel stay who kept begging to swim in a pool.
The hotel is quite nice with very big rooms. You can fit a family of adults & still have enough room to get around even with big luggage. The family enjoyed themselves during our 2 separate stays specifically because of the pool. It's big, temperature controlled & with a number of life guards around. While their pool is shared with The Hilton, it's sizeable to accommodate a good number of swimmers.
The S Kitchen is a nice buffet area - roomy, good natural lighting & impressive lighting fixtures. The food spread during breakfast is the same with most big hotels, nothing to highlight.
Staff are very warm. Almost everyone greets you with a smile.
However...
Hotel information inside the room is mostly with associated cost, no clear info about the hotel's facility & surrounding attractions/points of interest. On both stays, the front desk team did not ask about reason for our stay, which is a potential opportunity to upsell &/or just introduce what Manila has to offer.
Security check prior to check-in - DOUBLE thumbs down. During both stays, nobody assisted. It's only when you've placed your luggage on the wrong x-ray machine that you get approached & directed to the x-ray machine of choice. Such inconvenience especially if you have multiple bags & heavy luggage.
Security at S Kitchen - a buffet with roaming guards. Really? During breakfast on our 2nd stay, this one security officer in particular was looking very intently at guests & on few instances was actually looking at what food the guests were getting. Potential robbers at the buffet, maybe???
Valet - they drive like F1 racers & kept honking horns. Felt unsafe parking my car on the 1st stay.
Unsafe passage to Newport Mall - seems the hotel was designed specifically with gamblers in mind, as the quickest & safest passage to the mall is via the casino. If staying with children, you have to go out of the hotel & use a side passage intended for cars, not pedestrians. No decent sidewalk. Unsafe specifically for PWDs & senior citizens who are physically challenged.
Impression - this is a nice business & gamblers hotel. Strive to make it more...
Read moreWe have always stayed at Marriott Manila by Resorts World every time we visit the Philippines. However, on this particular time, we decided to give Sheraton at Resorts World a try. Everything was doing great at the start of our stay with Charity of the executive lounge checking us in with all smiles and welcoming us the Marriott Brand way that is all familiar. Everything on the first night was almost perfect from the bellhop to the servers at the executive lounge. I have to say props to the servers the ever smiling and friendly Josh and Christine - they were great. Also an excellent cook - Kim who did our breakfast omelet order. |The second day was just a comedy of errors or missteps. It started with our room not having any towels which was later delivered missing wash cloths or face towels. I called the front desk at about 6 pm on our way to the executive lounge and was assured that face towels will be delivered soon. When we got to the executive lounge around 604 pm we found the food line totally empty. Josh was his usual apologetic because of the situation. We tried to get what we can because we were assured that foods are being prepared. After thirty minutes I noticed someone dressed like an important or higher ranking person on her phone watching the situation. I thought that she was handling what was happening with the food line still empty. I asked who was she and found out she is the Food and Beverage manager Rhea Galvez. She had been there more than an hour and the food line was still empty. Plates were running out, even the drinks line were almost empty, silverware was out, still no food available. This is not the Marriott way of doing business. Finally we gave up that food will be available that night and decided to head back to our room. |That’s when we found the door to our room ajar and anyone could have walked in and take our stuff. I slowly yelled hello is anybody here. Found the lights all off and that someone has been there to do a turndown service, left, and forgot to fully close the door. That’s when I went down and talk to the Manager on duty Paolo who was really nice and assured me that it’s not the norm in Sheraton Hotel. He apologized and stated that he will take a closer look at what happened and will do better moving forward. When I came back to the room, I found out that no face towels was delivered yet and had to call the front desk one more time to get our face towels. Totally...
