My family and I had breakfast here twice since we stayed in Hilton Manila after coming back from a trip and before we left for the States. I’m stoked that Hilton Manila still sends their guests to Kusina for breakfast because I could say that this is one of the most amazing restaurants I’ve been to for breakfast in the Philippines.
It was my dad’s and my siblings’ first time here and it didn’t disappoint. During that time, Kuya Albert’s team was taking care of us and it felt like home. He and his team were attentive to our needs and were very courteous. This experience reminded me of my older cousins taking care of us whenever we go for a visit. Their smiles and vibrant attitude added to the great atmosphere of the place, showing what real Filipino hospitality is.
The second time we dined in this place, the team of Ray An, Jom, and Emman took care of us. They were able to sit us closer to the buffet area and they were equally courteous and attentive to our needs. They even entertained my child and asked if we needed baby food. Their smiles and positive attitude that day made us realize how we’re going to miss the Philippines and promised ourself to stay in Hilton Manila again to experience this kind of hospitality and care. Definitely recommend this place and hopefully we get to try their meals during lunch and dinner in the future.
Food wise, there are plenty of cuisines and definitely a ton of variety for each cuisine. One suggestion I have, esp for Filipino cuisine, is to stick to basic delicacies and a few specialties and be consistent with its taste. The bread was on the dense side, I wish it was fluffy or softer (Spanish bread, ube muffin, ensaymada) the maja Blanca didn’t have corn, and the lunipak was not very common, would have been better if they served cassava cake. I was also hoping there would be pandesal but I didn’t see it. Back in 2019 when I first dined here, I remember a guy named Derek going around offering pandesal with his famous line “Wala man akong pandesal ni Derek Ramsey, may pandesal naman akong bubusog sa Inyo”. I enjoyed that experienced very much since I put some cheese in my pandesal just like when I was a kid. Would be nice if instead of making ube muffin, to have ube spread offered that we can put on our bread. Overall, still a great experience and majority of the...
Read moreAs a Hilton Diamond member, our stay at the Manila Hilton was top notch as compared to other Hilton's in the states. I booked airport transport pickup at Terminal 3 and JC met us right away and what could have been a nightmare (Nino Aquino Airport is always a chaotic mess) was made so seamless and hassle free. He helped us maneuver thru checkin on the 5th floor and while I checked in my husband took advantage of the executive lounge beverage amenities. And there were plenty to be had. The lite fare offered at the executive lounge was a bit underwhelming but I guess it's to be expected when the place caters to a lot of non Filipinos. I was so looking forward to authentic Filipino cuisine but the chicken adobo was a bit subpar. The presentation and service though was impeccable.
Luckily for us we had complimentary access to their buffet breakfast at hotel's flagship restaurant-Kusina. It more than made up for the bland and anemic offering at the lounge. They had everything, classic Filipino breakfast offerings along with other ethnic dishes-, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Continental and a bunch of salad greens.
The Filipino breakfast was to die for. The only drawback, maybe for this Filipino is the breakfast hotdog and chicken longanisa. I just cannot understand the love affair of my fellow Filipinos for the hot dog. And finally, for the love of god, why do folks insist on substituting chicken for pork? Chicken in longanisa- Pleeeze ??????. It's just a sin. Also, need to give a shout-out to Grace. She was so helpful and help me in procuring soy milk for my latte. It was such a godsend since I now am lactose intolerant.
The sink in our room was not draining properly but Cecelia promptly took care of the problem by sending someone to fix it within seconds. Our 11th floor executive suite was just so comfortable. The sheets were smooth and cool which made my slumber so restful. The Manila Hilton makes it easy to stay with this hotel brand for...
Read moreVery poor system of queuing guests for the 'seated' dinner especially at the reception. You will have a nostalgia of how it is to wait in banks to be called after 'much time' of wait. While it is understood that proper queuing is a factor in implementing social distancing inside Kusina, the way it was done lacks systematic approach. Imagine being left in the cold after the receptionist entertained another group who approached the queuing table 'right after' she called out our group. It was bad timing but wasn't handled properly. I would suppose to be attended first being called first. She went on disappearing to walk the other group (all adults) inside. And my 8 year old daughter was so disappointed out of lost time and of course, she was already very hungry. It was 830PM already. An short apology would suffice for the insensitivity. To make things worst, she assigned us separate tables whereas there were available tables to have my group seated closer to one another. I would not want to think that Kusina has list of VIPs and 'not so' VIPs. This was my first time in Kusina and the customer experience was bad.
But waiters inside are the opposite, consistently courteous and more accommodating especially to children, especially in the 2 breakfasts we had over the weekend. And I dont suppose the load of people can be used as an alibi. The buffet dinner program has been going on since November 2020. Does it mean the morning shifters are better?
Food wise, there was variety but taste amd flavor are not that spectacular as expected. Maybe the bad customer experience affected my...
