Bar mleczny "Pod Temidą" — Restaurant in Krakow

I am not having a good day in Krakow. Managed to runt into the two rudest people in the country in like less than 30 min.

The cashier at this place is awful. She does not greet you hello, she has an extremely rude tone. I think they are scamming tourists as well. On the board it said that my dish would cost 24.90 zl but I paid 39 zl. The food is good but definitely not worth the price. And definitely not worth having to deal with the rude lady.

I do not recommend this place, especially not to tourists.

Update: while I was leaving a WO led up the courage and talked with a younger woman cleaning (who was far more nice). I asked about the price and apparently she accidentally mixed up the signs. She did not offer me a refund but said sorry and I didn’t want to make a fuss about it. Everyone can make a mistake. However the lady behind the register was extremely rude and the prizes are high for what is. You could have the same or better at a lower price OR the same price but better atmosphere and food...

Perfectly fine “milkbar” food, but rude cashiers - which might be authentic given the history.

For a second round, I asked specifically for pork cutlet without the potatoes. One lady quickly handed me a plate of- along with potato on the side and a salad - and insisted I had to pay for them all. That was five seconds after the dishes were out of the window, having not even been handed over to me. (Hence, no hygiene concerns.)

“You asked for it. Now you need to pay for it.” as she didn’t offer a “send back” option.

I didn’t mind paying for the combo, and I did. When I mentioned that I didn’t need the extras (salad, etc.) the cashier laughed and insisted I had to bring the salad plate with me.

Este es un sitio que tienes que probar, por que posiblemente refleja fielmente lo que era un "pod" tradicional, dentro del Stare Miasto.

Es más un sitio al que tienes que ir a comer por la experiencia más que por la comida en sí, y me explico.

El lugar consiste en una pared donde están todos los platos disponibles, tú eliges que quieres y se lo dices a la persona que te atiende. Después, en poco tiempo, te dan una bandeja con tu pedido, y buscas una mesa donde sentarte a comer, tipo zafarrancho.

El concepto de "pod" es ese, y tiene su sentido histórico, aunque en España quizá lo veamos mas con ojos de comedor universitario... pero no es asi. El lugar se conserva austero, pareciendo cutre, pero esa es la intención, que te sientas como se comía durante la época comunista.

Sobre la comida... pues de sabor no está mal, es comida que está bien, de batalla y nada más. Lo bueno, que según que plato, puede resultar más o menos resultón y tener algun sabor polaco, pero en general es comida de batalla y a nada que tengas algo de experiencia comiendo, los sabores no te van a sorprender como sí te puede sorprender un restaurante polaco de verdad.

Otro problema es la mujer rubia, que atiende de mala gana, y no sabe inglés, por lo que la experiencia se arruina... sobretodo si ya vas con desconfianza por un sitio que vende platos a 5€... Pensaba que era cosa mia, pero viendo mas reseñas, parece que es común.... En nuestro caso, se limitó a decir que el filete es tipico polaco, que puede ser, pero a pesar de que si que está bueno, no pude saber quera hasta tenerlo delante, y es exactamente como te lo puedes comer en España, un filete empanado con patatas, zanahoria, repollo y remolacha rayada y nada más. 100% igual a sabor como me lo como en mi barrio... una decepción.

La comida no está mal, pero no tiene la suficiente elaboración ni matices como para sentir que es comida polaca.

Es recomendable más por el conjunto global del lugar en sí, que solo exclusivamente por la comida, o si buscas algo extremadamente barato (comimos dos platos y dos refrescos por 18€). Le doy 3 estrellas por que realmente es justo aprobarlo, ya que la comida para el precio que pagas, no está mal. Pierde una por el servicio, y otra por que podia estar...
