We had a really nice stay in a standard twin room. The location is perfect, right next to the main train station, a big shopping centre and a very short walk to the city centre so you have everything you need in close proximity. The room was very nice, very clean and tidy, well furnished. Beds were comfortable and warm and the thermostat worked perfectly (it was -7 outside). Some of the fixtures, such as in the bathroom were obviously very cheaply made and so some things were damaged or breaking so we had to be careful. The toiletries were also very very cheap and watered down which was a little unpleasant but nothing that cant be handled for a few days. Internet relatively quick and quite stable
The only real issue we had with this place were the staff. They try hardcore to sell you things, as if you were buying a new phone contract or a new car. It was almost relentless and we were very uncomfortable with this. It made their friendliness, their 'welcome' and their professionalism seem completely fake - like they were pretending to be these things just to get a sale out of you. We also found that if you do not choose their sales options, they were quite unhelpful (with the exception of one worker who was more realistic and genuine). I will provide two examples. Upon checking in, we were asked, despite saying no multiple times, if we wanted breakfast. We mentioned that we have gluten and lactose allergies, however the person at the reception kept pushing saying there are options (although could not specify any option), proceeding to ask "are you sure" in a demeaning manner that sounded like he thought we were idiots for not taking such an amazing deal. After about 4 times he gave up and would not provide us with any recommendations for a good restaurant or anywhere around the place for dinner or lunch, only recommending the hotel. Besides the demeaning unhelpful and unprofessional manner where it just seems they want more money from you, its nice to have a handy hotel restaurant but who wants to eat there all the time when you want local food or something that's different or just easier or cheaper to get elsewhere (especially with our allergies). The second example annoyed us the most. Like most travellers to Krakow, we wanted to go to Auschwitz. We were told there were only two options, their private car service which was about 450 zloty for the day to go there and back - which they pushed hardcore - and a tour group that was somewhere around 220 zloty. We wanted to go on our own without a tour, but 450 zloty was way too much considering we could have had another day in Krakow for the same price, but the person serving us would not accept no and kept talking about all the advantages of having a private car (as if we knew nothing about the world). Eventually, after almost 10 minutes of trying to sell us this even though we kept saying we weren't interested, they would said they didn't know any other way to get there. Surely any local knows you can just get a train or multiple busses from the train station that was right next to the hotel, if we could look it up on google in English, surely these people knew. We went back a bit later to ask another person about it, we had to stop them mid sentence from trying to sell us the private car again "as our only option" and say we just want to get the bus. She said she didn't know how - now even if she didn't know, even 2 and three star hotels take the extra minute to google the timetable or info and print it for us. It was obvious at this point that the hotel was not interested in helping us and just wanted more money. We took the bus directly there with no stops for 6 zloty from the main bus station (directly next to the train station...next to the hotel).
After these instances (and a couple other smaller ones) we felt uncomfortable in approaching the staff for with any questions or help and instead googled everything from our phones.
If it weren't for our lack of comfort with the staff we would ave given a 4.5/5...
Read moreThe hotel is located just 5 minutes away from the main square, town centre, and railway, making it the perfect location if you prefer a quieter place to stay at night. Additionally, it offers a small gym and sauna, which were never too busy. Personally, I loved using the sauna after a day of plenty of walking. It provided a good rest before heading out to eat and explore the nightlife in Krakow.
The room itself was spacious and nicely decorated. The hotel also gives you the opportunity to choose how often you want your bedding changed and your room cleaned, allowing you to create a safe environment according to your preference.
However, there was one occasion where the housekeeper forgot to make the bed and tidy up the room and bathroom. Despite that, the overall experience was great.
In terms of dining, the hotel offered a fantastic breakfast with a wide range of options. My favorite was the honeycomb, but there were plenty of other choices available. The staff members were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
If you're in the mood for a little bit of shopping, you're in luck! The biggest shopping mall is located right across from the hotel, making it convenient for some...
Read moreI arrived late due to delays during a 20 hour international series of flights, and as a result my entire reservation was cancelled out from under me, and all rooms were sold out once I arrived.
I did manage to stay 2 nights here, the rooms were just okay. The gym is tiny, but the hotel is clean at least. The breakfast buffet in the morning was the best part.
The staff weren't very friendly, especially with the whole forced cancellation debacle due to late arrival.
I've traveled a lot, and I've NEVER had any place cancel my entire reservation due to a late check-in, penalties and fees, charging me for a room I didn't say in, sure, but a flat out cancellation of my entire 5 day reservation... never. A very similar thing happened to a business partner that was traveling with me, except they were able to get their room back (I wasn't...) and after completing their stay, they've had to argue with HRG because the staff also tried to charge them a cancellation fee, for a room that they stayed in the entire reservation.
I will NEVER stay here again, I would advise you avoid it as well. There are some very nice places, within walking distance, that are larger, better,...
