Sphinx — Restaurant in Krakow

Food was okay however our waiter decided to argue with us after he tried to charge us 25 euros for a platter full of meats that we never wanted or ordered. After he brought us the cutlery we asked why since we hadn’t ordered any food and he told us that we ordered the meat platter and we told him well obviously you misunderstood us, maybe the language barrier was an issue but he then began to tell us that if we didn’t pay then he would call security. This became really threatening and we asked for a manager, when he came he instantly asked us what had happened and apologized and took off the order from our bill. We appreciate the managers kindness but do not appreciate being lectured and accused by a 2 waiters questioning us or saying we did something that we didn’t....

I had a lunch here during peak times, but the service was super-fast despite the place was busier. The staff was attentive and friendly. Besides usual dine-in lunch and dinner options, they also offer vegan and vegetarion breakfasts.

I had ordered a dry seasoned beef steak with potato wedges and steamed green beans. The portion size was adequate. The sides were good, steak was good, onion salza was good but for a 5* rated steak I would expect little bit more. E.g. the slate plate could have been a little bit warm or pre-heated to keep the meat warm. The sides were warmer than the steak. The serving style was okay, thou.

I’m very much not the type to complain but after having a particularly bad experience I thought I’d share. My order came incorrect; steak extremely well done when I had asked for it to be medium as well as the sauce coming cold. My partner’s had been done correctly so I assumed it was just a small error. When asking to get it fixed the server was extremely rude and asked what I wanted her to do about it. I was a little bit perplexed as I’d been very polite and felt incredibly uncomfortable by her attitude.
