Our experience at this accommodation was unfortunately very poor, particularly considering the price of €120 per night.
Communication & Check-in Communication was inconsistent and frustrating. Although instructions said to message 20 minutes before arrival, we had already informed the host hours in advance and again upon arrival, without any response. In the end, we had to call, and the host did not seem aware of our booking. While she was polite and welcoming once we met, this lack of responsiveness is unacceptable.
Room Conditions The apartment and room did not meet even basic expectations: • A very strong and unpleasant odor came from the bathroom and, at times, from the balcony. • Bedsheets were damp and smelled bad. • The air conditioner made loud noises. • The TV did not work. • The shower drained very poorly and had weak pressure. • In the living room, there was a camera, which felt very uncomfortable. A living space should feel private and safe, and if the purpose is to monitor arrivals, such a device should be placed outside the entrance door, not inside the apartment where guests are staying.
Value for Money For €120 per night, the standards were extremely low. While the host offered to clean and change towels, this did not address the fundamental problems. When compared with other accommodations in Portugal, this was by far the worst experience we had.
Conclusion The host was kind, but the condition of the apartment was simply unacceptable for the price. The presence of a camera in the living area makes it even more uncomfortable. Looking at other reviews and the defensive answers provided by the property confirms this is not an isolated issue. We cannot recommend this place, and we hope others will avoid experiencing the same...

To start - we got to the apartment with no one to greet us (which was fine - need to let them know arrival time) but we managed to walk straight into the apartment and landed up in the kitchen as someone had left the door open. Checkin was available from 2pm, we arrived at 3pm. Despite the owners comments below - the apartment was cleaned by their standards and ready for us to checkin.
The building entrance is shared by people who live downstairs + the 3 guest house rooms, so people leave the doors open all the time. The front doors to the guest house doesnt auto locked when closed, and there is minimal security
The kitchen was dirty and run down. I’ve just seen in other reviews that the card machine wasn’t working for other guests over the last 8 months and that they were told to pay in cash. We were also told the same story. We told the managers we weren’t comfortable staying in a place that’s doors don’t close as 2 girls, and asked if they had any other apartments, but they were all full.
We managed to convince them to cut out booking short and they told us to request free cancellation of the entire booking via the app, then asked us to pay €100 in cash for the room.
The room we slept in lead off the kitchen, so we could hear the other guests coming in and cluttering around in there 3am.. and then again someone else making breakfast at 6am so the whole bedroom stank like onion in addition to the noise.

Added to this was gaslighting, lying, denial and zero costumer care by the host to support or compensate. Direct lying to my face saying the bed bug eggs, which I know how to recognise, was sand. Ignoring and denying photographic evidence of videos showing their bedding and room.
I was told by staff that they had them recently so clearly they werent go rid of properly.
Owner refusing to speak with me and refusing to compensate after an extremely stressful night of no sleep and extreme distress with having nowhere without bed begs to sleep. I had to cancel a day of work and wash all my clothes and have spent a whole day dealing with this but the owner is ignoring and refusing even to acknowledge and apologise.
I had already slept in the bed for one night before finding them the second night. I have bites and itchy paranoia. Please do not stay here, not only bed bugs (which I probably wouldn’t have even left a review about because they happen) but the extremely unacceptable customer care of lying and denying any sort of refund is just unacceptable. Don’t put yourself through the stress.
It also says soundproofing on booking.com but I could hear everything downstairs...
