I’m always hesitant to give low reviews to restaurants/cafes because I worked at one and give them the benefit of the doubt… but given how highly reviewed this spot was I don’t get the hype.
The best part was the coffee, it is genuinely good, but we’ve been to another spot that was better and cheaper.
The food was the worst part given what it’s priced at and that we waited for 30 ish minutes to get something that doesn’t require much cooking and is mostly assembly. The yogurt bowl was disappointingly small. My fiancée got the hummus toastie where the bread wasn’t toasted, there was a small sliver of hummus and instead of getting a roasted tomato it was just a warm one.
There was another family that ordered açai bowls and were told it’d take 20 minutes which again seems odd it’d take that long given you’d assume places would prep all the stuff before opening.
Now, everyone did come in right at opening and ordered food all at the same time which is stressful and I get that. This is no disrespect to the staff as they were great, but the overall experience wasn’t what we expected given the high reviews...
Read moreThere is not often a place where I equally love the food, service, and atmosphere. This place is one. Marcia was literally our favorite person we met while in Portugal, she was so friendly, attentive, and genuine. She was very understanding about my food allergies and really checked to make sure I could eat foods. She even remembered us and my food allergies on our second, third, and fourth times there! The food was fresh, unique, nutritious, and it simply looked beautiful. Every bite had complex flavors, complimenting textures, and clear freshness. The atmosphere was also lovely: surfer vibes, lots of natural light, no laptops or TVs, and comfy but still clean. We were tourists and we saw tourists come in, but there were also many people we saw here speaking Portuguese. They had a lot of local art and Marcia was always willing to give us a recommendation or help us understand things about Lagos culture. Thank you for the...
Read moreIf you're looking for speciality coffee in Lagos, served in a way befitting the 'speciality' label, this is it.
Competent and helpful baristas. Fresh speciality beans for sale. Gorgeous and nourishing food. Friendly and attentive staff.
Not only do they offer a choice of beans for espresso as well as hand-brewed filter coffee (aeropress and V60), they also have the knowledge and enthusiasm (and patience) to talk about them and help a guest make the decision. The latter sets them apart from similar venues in the area. Between two visits, we ordered two V60s of different origins, a guest espresso and an iced latte. Each was delicious.
They also expertly handled a slightly odd request to have the beans we bought ground at a setting suitable simultaneously for two different brew methods (worked great!).
On top of that, they maintain a relaxed atmosphere while making us feel thoroughly taken care of, even during...
