We had a nice stay in Feeling Chiado. The staff are very attentive, beds comfortable, water pressure fine. The location is excellent. ||Some problems/challenges we faced, which were my fault (but this is something which is not made clear on Booking.com and other travel writers articles) is that to get to the hotel you have to carry your suitcase up 96 stairs (I think 4 stories!) And when you go out, same of course, and this gets daunting a few times a day!!! It’s a LONG way up and down for a 55 yr old male who has had several back operations! I should have done more research but I did check travel blogs and the like but somehow missed this issue! (All bloggers completely ‘overlooked’ this issue)||Another thing which the hotel is in total denial over is they have a burst sewerage pipe (from the room above the one called ‘Gammar’ and when Lisbon heats up you can smell it in the ‘Gammar’ room, which I was given). I told the manager Nuna,(a lovely man who can’t do enough for you) and he tried to brush it off as, “This is the smell of Lisbon.” I told him I needed to change rooms which he luckily could sort out. The problem is, I did a dive into the reviews and found comments about the sewage smell a year ago from clients and STILL nothing has been done to fix it! The hotel tried to cover it up by lighting incense according to a post a year ago. ||Another thing I was confused about is the air conditioning. They have portable air con machines in each room and the pipes which suck in the hot air are VERY hot which cancels out the cool air the machines are making??? My question is, why haven’t the owners installed permanent air cons into the rooms which double as heaters as these portable ones take up valuable space and do not do a good job? ||Anyway, if you like stairs and good service, this is a good place to stay. I just felt that someone needs to tell the truth about this hotel, the reviews are not entirely close to what I...
Read moreYes we knew about the 96 steps up to the premises and we were warmly greeted by Nuno. |Sadly our expectations of any sort of view was dashed when we saw our room. We had booked a Delux suite and mistakenly believed we’d get some sort of view over the rooftops even if we didn’t have an actual balcony. |Our room was uncomfortably close to the noisy kitchen and dining area with only a door between. We could hear every word outside of our room so we assumed they could hear us inside of our room. There was also a sound of drilling every morning so it was impossible to have a lie in. |The window in the room had a “view” of sorts but it was of washing hanging from adjacent apartments opposite and the bins down below. |So definitely no rooftop views after walking up all of those stairs. |The room itself had several trip hazards (we are both in our 70’s) |A small step up to an area with table and chairs, a pine sloping wooden partition which caused many bumps on the head and a very large step into the bathroom which was so dark, with black tiles, it was hard to see my reflection in the mirror to apply makeup. Leaving the bathroom during the night down the steep step to the room in the dark was downright dangerous unless I left the light on. |Then there was the smell. Every time we entered the room there was a smell of sewerage in the room possibly from the bathroom. |Breakfast was adequate and extras left in the room was a nice touch. |However I would not stay again because of the room we were allocated which I believe was the worst room...
Read moreWonderful Experience at a Charming Hotel in the Heart of Lisbon!||We stayed at a lovely hotel in Chiado and had an excellent experience. |The rooms are very clean, with daily housekeeping that includes refilling a personal water bottle and leaving delicious cookies. The room is uniquely and creatively designed, with a cozy and pleasant atmosphere.||Breakfast was varied, tasty, and filling. In addition, there's a coffee station available all day with tea, water, light snacks, cookies, and cake – a great bonus!||The staff was amazing – patient, helpful, and attentive. They assisted us with a very late check-in and with anything else we needed. A good word for renato.||The location is just perfect – right in the heart of the Chiado neighborhood, close to Praça do Comércio and Augusta Street.||The room had good air conditioning, there was always hot water in the shower, and they even allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel for a few hours after checkout.||Only downside: The hotel is on an upper floor with about 100 steps and no elevator – something to keep in mind.||Overall – highly...
