I had the awful experience of having my wallet stolen whilst out shopping in downtown Lisbon. My wallet contained most of my cash as well as my cards, so it was a bit of a nightmare. Anyway, this meant I spent a lot of time in my accomodation and I'm thankful it was such a comfortable and tastefully decorated B&B. ||||||I usually book a luxury 4/5* Hotel wherever I travel. Lisbon itself doesn't offer many of these, so I ended up booking Inn Bairro Alto B&B and I wasn't disappointed. ||||||As mentioned above, the decor is very well done. The guestrooms are comfortable. I usually find it difficult to sleep, whenever sleeping anywhere other than my own bed, but I slept like a baby. The pillows are excellent, and I was happy (and pleasantly surprised) that my double bed... was actually a double bed! Not 2 singles pushed together as in most places. ||||||The staff were always friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was enough to help you start the day.||||||I would have given the full 5 stars had my shower been a little bit larger. Also, there are a LOT of air fresheners in the corridors, and these are overpowering at times. Other than that... spot on! ||||||Thanks for my stay, and you deserve the high reviews you...
Read moreWe booked 4 nights via Booking.com and wasn't sure what to expect as some sites call it a Hostel and some a B & B. We were pleasantly surprised. Check in is on the afternoon, but we arrived in the morning. As our Apartment was ready, we checked in. It was 107 on the ground floor by the dining room. It was huge and beautifully decorated. We had our 10 year old with us. The couch in the sitting area was made up for my son and the bed we had was huge. In the sitting area, was also a kitchen with fridge. We also had our own bathroom which was huge. It was comfortable and big enough not to get under each other's feet. It was occasionally a little noisy at night, but only from people passing. One night we heard banging on the window as we were on the ground floor but Just ignored it. The staff are helpful and friendly and were always asking if everything was ok. It's in a great location with shops, bars and restaurants close by. The metro is about 10 minutes walk. Great location and a lovely B & B. Definitely recommend a stay here...
Read moreMusty stench from the bathroom is literally suffocating. I had to check out after the first night of stay. Ventilator in the bathroom doesn’t help easing it up at all. Bathroom is too crammed: no bidet; little room between shower booth and toilet bowl. All the appliances like hairdryer, shower and mirrors are not quality and heavily worn. Body wash, shampoo and hand soap are all the same green gel: you shouldn’t risk your scalp with it. No hook for towels, only a ladder-like rack. Handle of bathroom door is very hard to rotate. Floor in the room isn’t clean, a bit sticky and there were hairs on the rugs. Some planks of the wooden floor are loose and noisy. Sound-proof design is almost obsolete: you can hear people running and shouting. Location is in a small alley heavily occupied by construction fencing. Walking 10 mins to the metro station on steep and narrow roads. Number pad for front gate isn’t that easy to use due to high sensitivity...
