Hotel Florida is one of those places that makes your stay in Lisbon much more enjoyable than you expect from a standard city hotel. Its location is absolutely perfect: right next to Marquês de Pombal square and Avenida da Liberdade, which means you can easily explore the whole city. The metro station is literally a couple of steps away, taxis are always nearby, and if you enjoy walking you can reach the historic center in about 15–20 minutes along one of Lisbon’s most elegant boulevards.
The hotel itself has a unique charm thanks to its cinema-inspired design. Everywhere you look there are film posters, artwork, and details that make you smile. It feels playful and creative, not impersonal like many chain hotels. Each room has a touch of personality, which makes the stay more memorable.
Rooms are spacious, very clean, and well-equipped. The beds are excellent—large and extremely comfortable—which really matters after a full day exploring Lisbon’s hills. Some rooms also offer beautiful views of the city, and even if you stay in one of the interior ones, you’ll find them quiet and restful. The Wi-Fi is strong and reliable, which is useful if you’re working on the go, and small touches like coffee machines and well-thought-out amenities add to the comfort.
Breakfast is a highlight: a generous buffet with a wide variety of options, from fresh fruit and pastries to eggs, cold cuts, and local specialties. Everything is fresh and constantly replenished, and the breakfast area has a nice, bright atmosphere to start your day.
The staff is another reason Hotel Florida deserves five stars. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. They’re happy to give you advice about what to do, how to get around, or simply make you feel welcome with a smile. That kind of warm service makes a big difference when you’re...
Read moreWe spent ten nights at Hotel Florida, and found it a wonderful, well-maintained small hotel conveniently located near a metro stop. Staff were consistently helpful and friendly.
Rooms are cleaned daily, and linens are changed, and/or beds are remade with the same linens they had on them before being remade. This is a real treat when few US hotels any longer offer that kind of service. Everything is immaculately maintained.
Hotel Florida is located on a quiet side street off busy Avenida da Liberdade and Marquês de Pombal circle. The only real noise problems we encountered were from rude fellow guests who insisted on banging doors and shouting in the hallways in the wee hours of the morning. But the hotel management can hardly be blamed for their guests' thoughtless behavior.
Hotel Florida is only a half block from the metro stop at Marquês de Pombal circle. It's also a half block from Avenida da Liberdade, which you can walk down to the old parts of the city if you're in for a brisk walk. We were very glad that a friend who's a retired travel agent recommended this hidden little gem to us.
Good, reliable wi-fi service is also part of the deal you get when you book a room at Hotel Florida. Breakfast is not included and is pricey at €18, the going rate for the many hotels in this part of Lisbon. But we found a small cafe nearby where we could have a great breakfast at less than...
Read moreWe stayed 5 days in 11/2024 as a family of 4. They don't have proper family rooms, so they put us in a large room on top floor that has a kings bed, a couch and even a table, and they added two rollaway beds with lousy mattresses. The BEDROOM had still enough space for 4 of us to roam, unlike bathroom which is unsuitable for more than one person, because of the lack of space. That made the evening and morning routines with children a real pain. Children went early to bed with no problem, there was no noise neither from the street nor from the hotel itself, only minus are really noisy airconditioning units thet were in front of our windows.
BREAKFAST was okey only for a short stay. There were two coffee machines, few tea pots, american pancakes, few yoghurt pods, fresh fruit, cakes, salami, croissants and breads. BUT, continental breakfast was really bad with samr tasteless scrambled eggs every day, cooked whole eggs, bacon, sausages and really overcooked and tasteless vegetables ( once broccoli, but mostly carots and green beans). Also there was no granola or oatmeal of any kind, just 3 cheap, sweet cereal options. On the bright side were fresh cheese and smoked salmon, but even that is not something one can eat every single day.
Location is just next to a metro,so that was a plus, but otherwise I would never suggest it for families or for people staying more...
