Think twice 🙏 Last night(8th August 2024) , I along with my small baby was forced to leave from hostel at Mid night 1.30 am!!! by the drunk and racist "Night Receptionist" of the hostel. (He has long beard, night receptionist. I don't know his name).
A bit details: We stayed there for 2 nights. Before we leave at the last day, we kept our 2 bag at their place for few hours and left hostel. As our flight was in the evening. But My flight was delayed for few hours and rescheduled at night 5 am. We went back to hostel to pick up our bags and make a place or solution to spend few hours. Coz We have to wait and take back our 2 bag also. And for preparing my baby food I was in need of a place. (The main concern). As we were a guest of the hostel, I cordially asked the night receptionist can he give me a room another night please. It was night 10 pm.I just need to stay for few hours. But I will pay full. He rudely said no he doesn't have. Ok fair enough. Then I requested him, can I please wait at the reception for few hours as my baby is to little and I can't find anything right now outside. Also said I will leave at 4 am as i have flight at 5 am.
He said ok. At 1 am , after being drunk he came to me and said we have to leave as it is mid night. I was shocked and said how can I leave now , it's not safe and where would I go now??? He said it's not my problem. Then I asked , I already took your permission, that can I wait till my flight. And you agreed. How come you say now like this!!! He was so rude that he said, he is not liable for flight delay. I said that's ok but from humanitarian view see , I am with a very small baby and if you want I can pay for your room or to sit at reception. But he refused and said we have to leave.
I was speechless and cried. I left the hostel with my wife and lil baby at 1.30. waited 2 hours out side the Airport untill gates open with a lot of insecurity and sadness.

Read moreIn a city where good deals for lodging are almost nonexistent, this is a hidden gem. I had a private single room (shared hall bathroom and showers) that fit the bill perfectly. Hot/cold breakfast was provided for free each morning and staff was available 24/7--not always the case with hostels, I have found, so it was much appreciated here.||A very nice woman (I forgot to ask her name but I know she has a daughter, if that helps) allowed me to check in several hours early when I arrived in the morning after a redeye flight and no sleep. There was a problem with the room safe not working, but she went and found a working one in another vacant room for me and swapped it out so all was well. Air conditioning was individually controlled and nice and strong, allowing a good night's sleep.||The subway was half a block away so the location was good for travelers without a car, such as myself. The hostel also offered an optional local cuisine dinner at 8:30 PM Tuesday night (not sure if it's every night or not) that I signed up for. The feast featured bacalao (codfish), a local delicacy, along with a special soup, appetizer samples of sausages, salad, bread, and endless glasses of red wine. There were ten of us at the table in the dining area of the hostel just off the lobby, from five different countries, and we spent over 4 hours eating, laughing, and sharing stories. The chef (Luis, I think?) outdid himself.||I am glad I found this gem and urge you to book it early as it is always filled up (private rooms as well as shared dorm room are available). There is no elevator so I had to walk up and down 4 flights of stairs but it was good to work off some of the calories from the delicious food in Lisbon, and a dumbwaiter is available for the luggage so there are no issues there. Read moreBooked a stay here in July.. We arrived after midnight and it was so nice to be greeted by such a stellar dude! Thank you Richard! He explained everything we needed to know with regards to the hostel and answered all our questions. The hostel location was super convenient, everything was walking distance.
I’ve stayed in a number of hostels and I can confidently say this one takes the cake. Ambiance was great, they have a substantial breakfast, rooms are spacious with tons of room for all your stuff in the lockers. The shower stalls are on the smaller side and I would recommend bringing a pair of flip flops to use around the hostel and in the showers. I was very pleased with all the counter space in the washroom as well.
They offer a tour to Sintra, which we really enjoyed and highly recommend. Sergio was our guide; he shared with us some interesting history about each spot we went to. Before reaching Pena Palace we had lunch and a glass of wine.. this was included in the price of the tour! You will be spending time in the van, so bring a blanket and a pillow if you plan on napping while on the road. When we arrived at Pena Palace it was foggy and cold; we decided not to go into the palace as it was crowded with tourists trying to escape the chilly temperature. In the case that this happens on your visit to the Palace I would suggest bringing a hooded jacket and/or an umbrella because the Palace grounds are beautiful and definitely...
