I'll be as fair as I can. I'll even start by saying that the property, rooms and location are super and hard to beat... However, I would never return due to the fact I left with the impression that the property's message of sustainability and quality isn't remotely sincere. The main problem lies with their concept of "self-service" breakfast, and the delivery thereof. They provided Class 3 (caged hen) eggs and ground pepper from Lidl - see photo. While I provided feedback in private to the lady on duty (Íris) at the time of discovery, she dismissed it as something minor, had no idea about EU egg classification and simply told me they definitely provide eggs from local providers. She then told me I could address it with the manager later; why couldn't she take it upon herself I don't quite know. So, I wrote an email setting out my concerns. Later on the manager apologised and told me it was a problem with their supplier they hadn't noticed. Now, this was the only face-saving strategy open to them, so I'm not surprised... but it can't have been an accident. Neither did they address my comments about cheap Lidl pepper (which apart from salt was the only element to provide any level of flavour to a bland combination of ingredients), or the fact they provide coffee in unrecyclable capsules. Practice what you preach, people, especially when you charge a lot of money to your guests. The quality and variety of other breakfast items was poor. Not even a single tomato, piece of cheese or any meat, nothing with any taste to be experienced. The bread was the same both mornings, not a pastel de nata to be seen, just some cheap-tasting croissant. The coffee machine instructions were also for a different model, which was confusing. The only frying pan they provide is a very small, deep-sided pan which makes cooking even a simple omelette challenging- I succeeded; I was a chef in an earlier life. The final straw was when the same lady, Íris told us we could order a taxi to the front door, when in fact it's not true. The street the hotel is on has traffic restrictions meaning you have to walk at least 150-200m with your baggage. Keep that in mind. In summary: while the rooms, and location (if you don't mind carrying your luggage to and from your transfer) are great- the breakfast is not good at all, there's no variety and they clearly don't value quality. They can say whatever they like in reply to this review... but you can't preach what they preach and offer caged hen eggs, Lidl pepper and the same bread every morning with nothing fresh to well-paying guests.

This is our absolute favorite hotel ever! There are so few hotels which combine up -to-date modern amenities in a culturally relevant historical building, while providing outstanding personalized service. My wife, Lisa, and I stayed at the Dare Hotel Lisbon in September 2022. We were greeted by the front desk staff who sat down with us, answered our questions about the hotel, helped us strategize our sightseeing plan and recommended restaurants - and a local purveyor of pasteies de nata that we visited daily for “our fix”. They also had a room ready earlier than expected. The hotel room was absolutely delightful with a small kitchen refrigerator, microwave and all the things that essential for breakfast or lunch. Everything was super clean. There was fresh fruit on the small table for two. The queen bed was totally luxurious and snooze worthy with beautiful cotton bed linens. Two Dare Hotel T-shirts gifted with a red ribbon were waiting for us The green walls, high ceilings, glass chandeliers, walnut-colored wood floors, wood shuttered windows and Portuguese tiles under the windows gave us a rich sense of culture and location. We found fell in love with the room! The marble clad bathroom was divine! We scarfed the warm breakfast bread and sweet treats hung in a white cloth bag every morning! The hotel’s location in Baixa is perfect, on a small quiet side street, but still close to the action! The free Wi-Fi was very good. We still get sentimental about the Dare Hotel Lisbon every time that we think about it. We hope to find our way back as soon as possible.

A nice hotel/apartment in the heart of Lisbon's downtown. The staff was friendly upon our arrival and the checkin process was seamless. Upon entry into the room, I was pleasantly surprised at how large it was. It consisted of a bedroom, a separate area for kitchen/dining, and obviously the bathroom. They also left two complimentary T-shirts as gifts on the bed. The Pros: - Centrally located within walking distance to the metro and major attractions. - Clean spacious rooms. - Breakfast is included, but you have to make it yourself. A pleasant change of pace for us since we have been traveling for almost a month at this point. - Good shower with proper draining of water and a good shower door that keeps the floor dry outside of the shower stall. The Bad: - Be warned about water usage as they only allow 20 minutes of water for showering. It will cut off for two hours if you go over the limit. It might bother some people who take longer showers. - Yes, you are in the middle of the attractions but that also means you are in the heart of tourist traps. So you'll have to leave the area to get something more "local" - No house slippers. No Q-tips.

My husband and I, along with four other friends of ours – on a couples trip – stumbled upon this wonderful hotel upon our search of somewhere in Lisbon that would be central enough to do access all of Lisbon but also have a charm to it that most hotels seem to lack these days. I am so glad that we had a chance to stay here.

From booking until our check out, everything was done with precision and care. The customer service team were very friendly and amazing at their jobs. They were so kind to book our dinner reservations and give us great bits of information and tips for our stay.

The room we had was so nice. Beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed, nice decor. The thing that makes Dare Lisbon House stand out is its kitchen. We were provided delicious, fresh bread every morning, along with eggs, yogurt, fruit, coffee (in a lovely little espresso machine), and other food items. This made breakfast really easy and convenient – and tasty! Kudos to offering the perfect amount of oranges to freshly squeeze our own juice.

The lobby also has a bar that offers complimentary wine, coffee and water. It also is just a really warming and comfy lobby to hang out in. Anything and everything that you'd need for a holiday stay is provided by the hotel: from irons to travel plug adapters. They accommodate for food allergies/intolerances, and they cater to personal needs. (We were provided oat milk!) If you need a transfer to/from Lisbon Airport, they provide that for you (for a cost of course).

If I had anything to say that could be improved for the room we stayed in: maybe more hooks to hang up towels and washcloths; also the sliding door to our bathroom was heavy to operate.

Besides that, it was SPLENDID. We will definitely be returning to Dare Lisbon House now. It feels great to know that there are places to stay that aren't AirBnBs or super expensive chain hotels.

HIGHLY...
