I've never written a review before but this restaurant pushed me to complain as me and my family had never been treated like that. I went there with my wife and two children (primary school kids). My younger son was very little and he doesn't eat much. Also we wanted to try more starters as those prawns in the starters are nice. but the fat waiter said we have to order one main each in not a very polite way. Alright, im not being cheap, those starters are not cheaper either. We then ordered more main but ok canceled some starters that we wanted to try, and had to eat those beef. we don't wanna eat so many steak but they have to push me like that. While we were waiting for food, my children were just playing quietly on their seat. My children are not like those running around type. But the fat waiter again saw our son hands on the table while they were playing some game, and took away their glasses and said they would break them! My sons never broke our cups at home and in restaurants, he is such a over anxious guy but very rude to us. Then we ordered a bottle of water and some wine. You know children always carry their own water bottle. The fat waiter (again) said they can't drink their water. We have ordered drinks already but still saying my kids can't touch their water bottle? how rude is that????? We never had that problem and sometimes they even drink their water in my restaurants around the world. This is the first time i see and it is bad image to Lisbon too.
The be fair, it's noly that fat waiter so rude to us, it's mainly the service. The other waiter then served us was smiley and polite to us.
Regarding the food, it's not bad, but not exceptional as you can eat similar quality in many other restaurants in Lisbon with way...
Read moreAsked the waiter to recommend a Vinho Verde and what followed was interesting. To begin with, he tried to convince me that Vinho Verde refers to a grape variety, plus that all wines made of same grape taste exactly the same, which is why I should just pick one. After that I asked him to then simply bring any one of those they have on the menu, as I am not able to choose without having any information. He then handed the wine list over to the only man sitting in the table, although I had told him to bring any of his choice and another woman was trying to once more politely explain what we are looking for. Our friend then pointed to a random wine. I asked them to also bring a bottle of water. Following that conversation I just wanted to get rid of a small water bottle that I had carried with me while I walked to restaurant and poured the water to the glass on the table. I really have no true intention to consume own water at restaurant, but the bottle looked bad on the table and I am not a fan of throwing away clean drinking water. Another waiter then came to serve us the water we had ordered. He insisted I am not allowed to drink that glass of water I had poured out. After having seen the previous conversation I just handed him the empty bottle and that glass of water and asked him to through it away. He did. And came back with a new glass to pour out their water. Other than this, the food was fine, although a bit salty. Wine was superb. However, taking into account the full experience, will not...
Read moreWe randomly stumbled in after a day of shopping, not expecting much given its prime location in Chiado. But from that first visit, we were completely blown away, and it quickly became our go-to spot for hosting out-of-town guests, family, and friends.
The food is consistently fresh and delicious—after more than 15 visits over the past two years, we’ve never had anything short of an outstanding experience. Beyond that, the service is impeccable: warm yet professional, creating the perfect balance. It’s a family-run restaurant, and they operate like a well-oiled machine, making every visit feel both seamless and inviting. That, combined with its charming interior, creates an atmosphere that is both authentic and intimate.
Every time I come here, I’m introduced to a fantastic new wine. Daniel, the sommelier, is a true wealth of knowledge and always generous in sharing his favorites and latest discoveries—he’s even helped us stock our own wine cellar. Their hospitality extends beyond just the restaurant.
At its core, this is a place I keep coming back to when I want to feel connected. If you only have a few days in Lisbon and want an exceptional, authentically Portuguese meal, this is where you should go. I highly recommend the steak on a stone, seabass, garlic shrimp, croquettes and the chocolate mousse; and you should definitely treat yourself to the...
