this hotel has my heart. it’s the best location in lisbon. we didn’t buy a bus ticket once, because everything was a 2-20 minute walk away. there’s something very special about waking up and being at praca do comercio in minutes, and eating a late night nata in the tourist area before bed. there were street performers 1 minute away at night. the rooms are very small, but that’s europe. it also smells a bit funky, like a mix of sewer and perfume, but that’s portugal. it’s nice and clean and quiet. the windows are very soundproof - and that’s coming from someone who is very sensitive to noise! the staff was really welcoming and kind and patient. i would go again in a heart beat. we booked 2 tours, and the meeting point was 7 minutes walking - while other people on the tour had to take a cab to get to the meeting point right next to the hotel!! it truly pays off to be centrally located. there are so many cafés and restaurants nearby. yes they are touristy - but i’m portuguese and they are still very tasty! check out the bacalao (cod fish) museum near the water. i loved learning about the history of why there is so much bacalao in portuguese food. also, being centrally located means you can pick up water / change your outfit for dinner super easily. book this place :) photo: bacalao place minutes away !

This review is based on 3-night stay. Two amazing things about the hotel: 1) The staff is very kind and helpful. 2) The location is truly perfect. You're literally in the heart of the city. If you are solo traveler, be careful ! There is a significant issue that's not mentioned on either Booking.com or the hotel's website. If you book a single room, be aware the window ! To see the window in the single room, please see attached photo, it is exactly a "vent". There is no daylight in the room. The big window in the bathroom is blurry. You'll have to stay in a dark room with no daylight. I took screenshots from the hotel's website and Booking. Failing to provide this crucial information would be misinforming guests. Also need to say that the bed was comfy and good. The breakfast was below average, fresh fruits were good. During my 3-night stay, I had breakfast only 2 days and one day outside. Lastly, I looked for some "design" inside the hotel, but I saw that "design" was only in name.

The hotel is very well located - very close to restaurants, stores, pharmacies, etc. The room was ok. The water pressure of the shower was great and the hair dryer was good. The breakfast was good. The negative aspects is that the curtains did not close properly (no privacy since there is a building right in front and very bright in the morning). The mattress and the pillows were not comfortable. The breakfast space is very small and can easily get crowded.

The things I like is the helpfulness and dedication of the staff. Andre and Marta were so kind and helpful. Marta found another room which I appreciate. Andre helped me look for a doctor as I wasn’t feeling well. The cleaning staff also did a superb job daily, emptied the garbage, gave me fresh towels, refilled the water and coffee pods , remade the bed.

The hotel location is excellent and steps away from the pedestrian streets and close to metro stations and the ocean. It is closed to Fortress .

I like the daily housekeeping and fairly bright room.

The shower is fantastic and water strong although is room 508 the shower floor is tilted AWAY from the drain thereby leaving a pool of stagnant water after showers.

The luggage rack is really nice.

The bed is soft and comfortable.

Please note the hotel description : Important information Please note that construction work is going on nearby [from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM] and some rooms may be affected by noise. Using the app “soundprint”, I measured the construction noise and it was considered “quiet “ at 45 to 50 decibels but the construction noise is almost constant from 8:08 am until well passed 7 pm. Although it is not loud ( more than 70 dB) it is nevertheless annoying . Hotel management said “ the noise is beyond their control “ which is true. But it is within your control if you want to reserve this hotel. The hotel is upfront and forthright about the noise. If you plan to be in the hotel during those hours and highly sensitive to any level of low banging noise, you may want to consider if this hotel is right for you. I do admit that I overlooked the description so it is partly my fault but the description said SOME of the rooms have noise problems.

Room has no clear( frosted window ) room and can’t be open wide ( all rooms ends in 08 like 308, 408,508. You feel like staying in a box. The biggest frosted window is in the toilet.

Room is small . No chair and normal closet. I ate my breakfast on my bed. Cloth Hanger rack is high and the hangers are anti theft ( is it necessary when it costs less than 10 cents apiece ?)

The only electric plug is near the coffee maker and not convenient.

I think you will be more comfortable staying in an apartment as room ending in 08 is really small. Either that or pay more to get a bigger right.

What you pay is what you get. I reviewed price the nearby hotels . It is slightly higher. What I paid is not what I got mainly because of noise and size...

Located close to the Praça do Comércio and many restaurants, the MeraPrime Gold |Hotel is the ideal base from which to explore the lovely city of Lisbon. Our room on the |first floor, although on the small side, was tastefully decorated and well equipped, with |a safe, a small refrigerator and a coffee machine – and, upon request, we were also |provided with a kettle.|I would recommend a room on a higher floor – our room faced an intersection of two |busy streets, which made it quite noisy – I imagine this would be worse in high season |and an issue for light sleepers, or those who like to sleep with the window open.|I can’t fault the staff at all, who were, without exception, most helpful, friendly and |efficient. Check-in was very efficient and we were grateful to have immediate access to |our room before the official check-in time, as we had had a very early start for our |morning flight. |Breakfast was plentiful and of a high quality – fresh fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, a good |choice of bread and pastries (plus a pancake machine!), ham, cheese, plus the usual |cooked options. Every day there was a fresh homemade cake, which was also made |available to clients in the late afternoon/early evening. I thought this was a nice touch. |Although taken in the reception area of the hotel, breakfast was a calm and pleasant |experience.|The only minus points were that the bathroom was rather chilly and the |bedroom too warm. The extractor in the bathroom appeared to be controlled |centrally, which was inconvenient, and we could have done with at least another peg, or a |heated towel rail in the bathroom to hang wet towels/clothes. Similarly, a couple of pegs |for coats would have been welcome in the room, and the rail of the wardrobe could have |been better placed to allow easier access to the clothes hangers. There were not enough power points in the room for charging phones, but charging points were provided in the breakfast area.|I have no hesitation in...

Our stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing, starting with a terrible check-in experience. Upon arrival, we discovered that the in-room safe was not working — a major concern for us as we were traveling with jewelry and our passports. The staff member at the front desk was unsure how to fix it and said they would ask the maintenance person to take a look.

An hour later, we hadn’t heard anything, so we went back to follow up. We were then told that maintenance had left for the day and that they would try to look into it the following morning. This was unacceptable given our security concerns. We asked to switch rooms, but unfortunately, the safe in the second room didn’t work either.

To her credit, the woman at the front desk went out of her way to help — she even left to purchase batteries from a store, as the hotel didn’t have any onsite. We eventually asked for a refund so we could find another hotel, but were told that the manager was unavailable. Even Expedia couldn’t get in touch with anyone, and the staff onsite didn’t have the authority to approve anything. It put everyone in a really uncomfortable situation.

We finally got the safe working and decided to stay. The rooms themselves were okay, but the carpet was worn and dirty — honestly, it should be replaced entirely. While the rooms are quite small, with a few upgrades, the hotel could have potential.

My recommendation is that this hotel ensures management is available or, at the very least, empowers the front-line staff with the tools and authority to make decisions. The woman who assisted us was kind, helpful, and truly tried her best — this review is absolutely not a reflection of her performance. She was excellent.

That said, due to the lack of preparedness, poor condition of the room, and absence of management, I would not stay here again or recommend this...
