Early october we spent a midweek in Lisbon, and thanks to tripadvisor we ended up in Morpheus Guest house. It is indeed a pearl in the large Lisbon bowl of hotels/pensaos. Spacious room with atmosphere and good beds is a pleasure to stay. Besides 4-5 rooms on the 2nd floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen, and two fine good looking bathrooms. Large cooler/freezer in the kitchen, and oven combination as well as micro wave oven. All functions fine in the bathrooms; lovely shower etc, There is an old fashioned elevator in the building, but staircase for 2 floors is't too much, is it. The house keeper, Joao, is friendly, gives all the necessary information on the guest house particularities, and answers your questions about the surroundings of the guest house. No breakfast included, but you can make your own in the kitchen ! Supermarkets are nearby, one of them even open until midnight. Or why not visit a pastelaria for a breakfast or brunch ( should you like to sleep long....). On the average a quiet location, but slight trafic noise starts early in the morning. The only disappointing point in our room was a double window that could not be closed properly. Lowering the blinds helped a little. So street noise was noticed, but caused no rude awakenings. Airco on the room was not used, since it was comfortable temperature already. Large TV on the room, but we hardly used it. The downstairs main door lock could use some attention, but fiddling the key always helped to get in. Now, considering these only minor details, I would ALWAYS recommend this guest house to anyone. If you have been to Lisbon several times, stayed in various hotels/pensaos, then you will easaly agree that Morpheus has great comfort and a good location, combined with fair price and great self service freedom. The room was clean from the start, but not serviced during our 3 night stay. We were in a way happy with that, since it gave no disturbance in our long extending morning sleep, due to the good beds ! We will certainly come back...
Read moreAfter a week long drive in a packed car across the U.S. with 2 miserable cats and then an 8 hour plane flight to Lisbon, followed by a mandatory trip to the airport vet, we arrived exhausted with way too many suitcases at 8:00 in the morning at the Morpheus Guest House. Joao was there to greet us, help us with our heavy luggage and show us to our huge, beautiful corner room with 2 comfy twin beds. After making sure we had bowls for our cats' food, Joao left us to recuperate from our long journey.||||I took a long, hot, blissful shower in the clean shared bathroom down the hall. Then we lowered the amazing shutters that can totally black out a room during the middle of the day and napped for a few hours before getting up and exploring the city. Joao had given us a map of Lisbon and we used it to navigate ourselves to the nearest subway station at Marques do Pombal. From there, the rest of the city was easily accessible. ||||For the next couple days we finally got a chance to rest up from our crazy move from the U.S. to Portugal before we headed out for the next leg of our journey. It was incredibly quiet at the Guest House despite it being on a weekend. The well equipped kitchen was excellent to have access to so we could make tea and breakfast in the mornings before venturing out for the day.||||On the last day Joao kindly called us a taxi to the train station and once again helped us bring our heavy bags to the curb. He was a wonderful person and we look forward to seeing him when we stay here again next month. ||||Another thing about the Morpheus Guest House that was just fantastic was how reasonably priced their pet fee is. In a world where hotels feel justified to sometimes charge over $100 per pet per night, we were so pleased to...
Read moreWe spent a pleasant stay at Morpheus guest house. We were greeted by a friend of the owner, who was very nice and helpful, he even carried my heavy luggage up the first few stairs before the elevator. ||The room was very clean and tidy, as well for the two bathrooms. No noise whatsoever! The owner had some helpful tips, and we basically had a lovely 4 days stay there. We had a very good cost-quality ratio, and we are totally satisfied. ||||A little tip, take your breakfast or snack at the little pastelaria or bakery right next to the guest house, as the owner is very nice and treats his costumers in a very nice way :)||||The only problem was that we discovered that at night the street is filled with prostitutes, but we never had any problems whatsoever, but this is worthy...
