Best Plaza West Bay Hotel — Hotel in Doha

@qatarairways offer a stopover programme. Rather than a quick connection you can have a 1,2, or 3 night stay before getting your connection.

Various levels are available.

I opted for 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza in West Bay for an addition cost of about 65 quid. Not bad for a 5 star hotel.

On my arrival I was met by @saurabhpatel0107 guest relations at the hotel.

I told him my story - I've sold all I own to travel the world solo.

Impressed with the chance I'm taking in life, and the fact I had chosen to come to Qatar for the first time under the stopover programme, he gave me a room upgrade with a sea view. A cheeky wee 15% discount was added to hotel food and mini bar bills.

An amazing gesture.

We struck up a great connection instantly.

Always smiling and cheery with each other. Makes the stay all that more enjoyable.

The next day we met again in the lobby. I told him of my 8 hours exploring Doha, the 20km covered and the blisters on my feet. Hearing I was interested in doing the jeep safari, he was on the phone immediately and obtained a 20% discount from the excursion company.

I told him I was checking out the next day, would there be somewhere I could store my bag whilst I was away?

"Yes sir, your room, I'm giving you a free late check out" was his answer.

We spoke about my flight time and when I'd needed to be at the airport for my flight to Thailand.

Back on the phone.

"OK, the chauffeur will pick you up at the hotel, the late check out still stands, just check out at pick up time, I've told them your flight time. The driver will look after your bag in the car while your doing your thing, and then he'll drop you off directly at the airport".

Can't thank him enough.

Every staff member at the hotel were amazing.

The food was excellent.

The experience will last a lifetime.

Think I'll do the 3 night stopover on the way back.

If any of you are ever flying that far and the opportunity to experience the stopover, definitely go for it.

As I reflect on my past nine months at Crown Plaza, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the exceptional experience I've had at this hotel.

Room The room I stayed in was very comfort and style. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the furnishings were elegant. The room also boasted modern amenities, including a flat-screen TV and high-speed internet, ensuring that I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.

Housekeeping: I was thoroughly impressed by the housekeeping standards at crown plazas. The room was impeccably clean, with every surface sparkling and well-maintained. The housekeeping staff paid attention to even the smallest details, ensuring that my room was always a welcoming retreat after a day of exploring the area. Their dedication to cleanliness truly enhanced my overall experience at the inn.

Service: The service was truly outstanding. From the moment I made my reservation, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that I had a memorable stay. Whether I needed recommendations for local attractions or assistance with any request, the staff was always attentive, courteous, and eager to help. Their genuine hospitality made me feel valued and appreciated as a guest, and I cannot praise them highly enough for their exceptional service.

Breakfast: One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious breakfast served at crown plazza. Each morning, I was greeted with a mouthwatering spread of freshly prepared dishes, including eggs, pastries, fruits, and more. More over am from India so they are having most verities of Indian foods like dosa, idili, Allu porotta etc.The quality and variety of options were impressive, catering to a range of tastes and dietary preferences. Whether enjoying a leisurely breakfast in the charming dining area or opting for in-room dining, the breakfast experience was always a delightful start to my day.

Pros. It's been a great pleasure for me to stay in this hotel. The check-in was quick and easy. The room was excellent. The staff were excellent and very supportive of my stay. A warm welcome was given by Mr Jamshed and his team, The restaurant staffs were also very good at your service for anything you wanted to have during breakfast. My room was cleaned by Krishna, Achal & Khim. All the staffs are very good & polite. I was very happy with the team. I had a very good evening spent near the pool sometimes and also met Mr Parera the Cashier who was also a very nice gentleman to spend time with. They also have a very good gym facility too. Sometimes they should change the background music in the restaurant also and the TV should update some more Music Channels :)

Cons: Though because of Ramadan month, it was difficult to explore the bars and other areas. I didn't visit their Bar / Club which was also closed due to Ramadan time. I can not comment on that.

I didn't try the SPA unit as it was not recommended for any good reviews online. I would suggest the management team get some original reviews from the customers. There were no recent reviews found online for that unit. The SPA is expensive and needs to run some offers and discounts for the customer to enjoy and promote. The FIFA World cup is coming, Qatar is preparing and the crown plaza management should also prepare for the same offering an enjoyable stay for the guest as well.

Overall it was a very nice stay and recommend people for the nearby destinations as well. The City Centre of Doha is within walking distance, DECC Metro is also within walking distance, The seaside Al - Dafna Park and Hotel Park is also a very good place to walk in the evening and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. Can order a coffee from Starbucks and sit for a while. The hotel is well decorated & found everything perfect. I will visit once again and also recommend people to stay and enjoy the hospitality as well.
