Hotel Transilvania — Hotel in Cluj Metropolitan Area

Bad first impression on arrival from the reception staff who could not be bothered to give us any information or maps for the local area. Very sullen in attitude and could not even direct us to our room. When we arrived at our 'junior suite we were gobsmacked. We knew it was old fashioned from the other reviewers photos but did not expect it to be so shabby. The bed/bedding was clean enough but that is about all I can say. The bathroom is extremely poor to the point of feeling grimy. See pictures of the appalling shower head and grout situation. The shower cubicle effectively became a bath when in use such was the back up of water. Proof the trap has never been cleaned and cleared. The laminate flooring throughout is in poor condition and the beading is a joke. None of this would matter of i was paying a budget price but I certainly was not, and to call the room a suite is quite frankly insulting. Housekeeping was poor and every day we had to request items which had not been replenished. The floor was not vacuumed or mopped during our whole stay. |Breakfast was included in our price but if you're considering paying for it i wouldn't bother! I have never seen such a poor selection and of such poor quality. We didn't even bother with it after the first day. ||The only thing going for this hotel is the location, but saying that there are plenty of other hotels in the Old Town. Cluj is a fantastic city, it is a shame this hotel marred...

In the beginning, I had mixed feelings about this hotel...I mean, it is quite old and the furnishings are quite outdated and for Heaven's sake guys, change the TVs in the rooms. Mine was like a small computer screen and the image was awfuuuuullll. |But, hear me out...|There are lots of positive things about this hotel. Well, for starters, it is in the city' s center. I mean, you almost cannot be more central than that. Well, there is Melody, but I stayed there 30 years ago, so...|It is quiet. I stayed there in April, so maybe that's why, but nevertheless, I enjoyed it.|The breakfast is nice, maybe a bit repetitive, but OK. |But what made me give 4 stars are mainly the people that work there. From the receptionist to waiters to the cleaning lady they were all so nice and polite they absolutely made me forget about the TV set and the small shower cabin and stuff like that.|So, if you like luxury, this hotel is definitely not for you. Da ich privat nach Cluj-Napoca musste, suchte ich ein Hotel, das zentral liegt.||Ich buchte das Hotel Transilvania.||Es liegt direkt an einer Hauptstraße, dennoch etwas schwierig zu sehen, da die Kennzeichnung etwas unscheinbar geraten ist. Man geht durch einen Torbogen in den Innenhof des Hotels und betritt dann (rechts gelegen) eine kleine Rezeption.||Das Hotel verfügt über einen eigenen Parkplatz, der sich hinter dem Gebäude befindet und durch ein Rolltor gesichert ist. Zum Öffnen muss man kurz austeigen und die Klingel betätigen. Möchte man vom Parkplatz aus die Rezeption erreichen, durchquert man ein kleines Treppenhaus und dann den Innenhof - von der Rückseite des Hotels.||Der Innenhof ist mit diversen Tischgruppen versehen, die dann am Morgen auch notwendig wurden, da die Sitzgelegenheiten im Frühstücksraum nicht ausreichten. Glücklicherweise regnete es nicht.||Das Hotelpersonal war freundlich.||Mein Zimmer lag auf der ersten Etage und war über eines der Treppenhäuser vom Innenhof aus zu erreichen. Es bestand aus einem nicht sehr großen aber ausreichenden Raum mit großem Bett Schrank und Sessel plus kleinem Badezimmer mit einer einfachen Dusche. Eigentlich war alles vorhanden. Aber es ist alles ziemlich alt und leicht verwohnt. Der Teppich, Gardienen, Möbel sind zum Teil fadenscheinig und abgenutzt. Einige der Steckdosen sahen nicht sehr vertrauenserweckend aus. Auch das Flachbildfernsehgerät stand auf defekten wackligen Beinen. Allerdings W-Lan funktionierte perfekt! Zudem war das Zimmer sauber. Etwas überrascht war ich, als ich mich auf die Suche nach Handtücher begeben musste, die dann im Schrank lagen. Aber, okay, warum nicht – es war nur etwas ungewohnt.||Das Frühstück war sehr einfach und auch nicht wirklich ausreichend. Als ich an einem Morgen eine halbe Stunde bevor es schließt, eintraf, gab es weder Gebäck noch Kaffee – nur noch einfache Säfte, Aufschnitt und gefüllte Tomaten…||Auf Nachfrage wurde mir dann (handverlesen) etwas persönlich gebracht (Croissant und Kaffee), aber aufgefüllt wurde nicht mehr.||Zudem war es i.d.R. im Frühstücksraum, der nur über 5 Tische verfügt und ziemlich eng ist, zu voll, so dass ich im Freien frühstückte.||Dennoch, das Zimmer war nicht teuer. Somit kann ich über das spärliche Frühstücksangebot und das in die Jahre gekommene Zimmer hinwegsehen.||Denn die Lage ist wirklich sehr gut. Es liegt direkt neben einem der vielen kleinen Einkaufszentren und wenige Fußminuten vom Zentrum mit großen Plätzen mit Straßencafés und Restaurants entfernt.||Alles in allem hat mir Cluj-Napoca sehr...
