Marty Restaurants Muzeului — Restaurant in Cluj Metropolitan Area

I’ve been a regular at Marty for 15 years and I’ve always had only the best words of praise for all their restaurants, but going to this new location has been such a disappointment that I’m seriously thinking of giving Marty a long break.

The waiter we had the “good luck” of getting was downright rude and dismissive, from refusing to honour our most basic requests to his snappy and sarcastic replies given to whatever we asked him. We came to the restaurant at about 4 PM, a time when it was 3/4 empty, and asked if we could get a table in the back (like everyone, we had come to see and enjoy the design) but the waiter refused to seat us anywhere other than at one of the front tables that were basically on the terrace because they were keeping the retractable front window wall open (and it was barely 13 degrees outside and windy). His argument was that the inside tables were all reserved for other people who were about to show up. Needless to say, for the entire hour we were there, only one table ended up being taken out of all of those. Moreover, 10 minutes after we arrived, I heard another waiter tell some new customers that they could sit anywhere provided that they leave before 6, when most of the reservations were supposed to start. Why our waiter refused to seat us where we requested even though it was almost empty is beyond me! And this isn’t even the most aggravating aspect. Despite our plea to be moved inside considering it was cold and windy AND the fact that it was basically empty, he blatantly ignored everything we asked him and even passed our table to another waiter afterwards. The cherry on top was that as we were handing in our check to the other waiter and standing up to leave, the initial guy who served us started to blatantly close the window which he very well knew I requested to be closed an hour before! I don’t know how to classify this type of behaviour as anything other than plain rude and spiteful. If this is how your waiters are allowed to behave, then I’m really sorry for the quality of your services, it was awful.

Regarding the food, the main plate was brought to us half cold and it was mediocre at best. This is not the Marty I knew, I’m surely not coming back...

Upon entering a warm greeting from staff was received, the restaurant in and of itself has outdoor seating aswell as indoor, on the inside, the restaurant is beautifully decorated with greenery, hanging plants and other vegetation, toward the back of the restaurant you can see the kitchen, where you can watch your food get prepped in real time, the kitchen is also decorated with various seasonings, smoked meats and vegetarian alongside plants, the service was absolutely amazing, all the staff were quick and kind to us Iuliuana was our waiter, she was extremely friendly and was eager to help with problems regarding reservations too, the food was delivered swiftly after our drinks, overall great vibes and the staff is is very helpful towards customers, Marty leans towards customer feedback so a review would be greatly appreciated from them, at the end of our meal they even gave us a nice Cherry Cheesecake desert on the house, in the end i highly recommend stopping by if you are passing by or you are in Cluj. 👍👍

This restaurant seems to have everything: amazing interior design, lovely location, kind staff and attractive menu with a large selection of International dishes. It's sparkling clean and on the way to toilet the clients can admire some Middle Age ruins, interestingly displayed behind a glass wall. The only thing missing from this restaurant seems to be the wow factor of its dishes. A taste to remember, a dish that could make the clients to return saying "let's go to Marty to eat their famous X food!" or "they prepare a decent X food in Budapest, Brasov or Vienna, but the best X food is by far in Cluj, at the Marty's". I went for the garlic butter tomato shrimps and I expected them to be spicy and smokey from the chipotle, juicy and savory with the garlic butter and tomato flavors mixed together. Well, I was disappointed. The vegan chili was supposed to be spicy and was almost tasteless. As a family, we have order different dishes and shared them, just to check the taste.
