The Best Guesthouse in Seoul — for tourism or work don't look for something else book this place!
If you're coming to Korea, this is the best place to stay — hands down! Located right in the heart of Myeongdong, this guesthouse offers the absolute best location in Seoul. It's in a hotspot area within walking distance to major tourist attractions, and just 2 minutes away from both the metro and bus stations.
It’s also the best area for shopping and street food. You can safely return even late at night — the streets are alive with open restaurants, convenience stores, currency exchanges, and essential shops. Everything you need is right there — much more convenient than staying in other parts of the city.
The rooms and the guesthouse are super clean, neat, cozy, and very well managed. But what truly makes this place special is the amazing staff and management team, who always greet you with a big smile and are ready to assist. I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world, but nowhere have I felt more welcomed. The staff went above and beyond to assist me with every question and request — I genuinely felt like I was at home.
I’ll definitely stay here again. Just don’t make the same mistake I did: I didn’t pay for my full stay upfront while waiting for my visa and had to move out for two nights — they were fully booked. I deeply regretted it because other places didn’t come close to the comfort, cleanliness, and warmth of Sunshine Guesthouse.
Another great plus: they have a laundry area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cozy common area, where you can work, relax, or meet fellow travelers and repeated guests. As a solo traveler, I met amazing people here and made lifelong friends. This guesthouse didn’t just meet my expectations — it exceeded them and made my Seoul experience unforgettable.
Thank you to the entire team for your hospitality, hard work, and the care you put into every guest’s experience. You made my trip truly special....
Read moreMy wife and I booked the Double Standard room with window for 6nights7days. The room has everything you could need: flat screen with android TV, personal wifi router and password, outlets with adapters already, hot showers, daily clean towels, a fridge, a blowdryer, clothes rack with a couple hangers, and 2 pairs of bedroom slippers with a shoe rack for your outside footwear. For the bathroom, they also provide separate bathroom slippers. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash comes in dispensers. Then in the Common Area, they have a water dispenser which we really used to refill our huge water bottles everyday. There's an espresso coffee machine which we can use for free. Everything you might need is there: Hot boiling water, microwave machine, cups, mugs, plates, bowls, utensils, chopsticks, name it and they have it! The staff while we were there were very nice and friendly as well. This place has the perfect location if you want to be immersed in the Myeongdong street culture. Right when you step out the entrance of the hotel, the full force of myeongdong comes right at you. Awesome and cheap kimbap + bibimbap place right infront of the hotel. Ultracheap but deliciously addicting MegaCoffee just 5 steps away. Cute instagrammable pretzel cafe (breadypost) if you turn left after going out the hotel. Convience store right beside megacoffee. Kkanbu delicious fried chicken and beer place on top of megacoffee. Oh and if you're wondering, it's approximately just 50 steps away from Myeongdong train station. I love this guesthouse. I will definitely book this place again if i have the chance to visit...
Read moreThe location of this guest house is superb – easy to find, near to the subway and within walking distance from everything. The bespectacled security guard at the building entrance was also very polite.
Although the room is not spacious, it was larger than the one at Step Inn Myeongdong, a similarly budget-style hostel I previously stayed. The room here is equipped with some amenities like smart TV, hair dryer, etc. However, there were only two electrical sockets in the whole room. Shampoo and shower gel were of a good quality but the water temperature tends to fluctuate almost every time we take a bath. The provided towels are also very small.
Sound insulation wasn’t great and staying in one of the middle rooms get a tad noisy. Ventilation was minimal unless you get a room with a window. AC remote wasn’t provided in the room due to the cool weather in March - we were only told we need to ask for it upon inquiring. Oh, and it’s 10K won for an extra pillow if you need one.
The staff speaks excellent English and were helpful in answering all our queries, although the rules here are pretty strict – no smoking and no using of common area facilities after 10pm. Non-smokers like me will delight in the former, but the latter is a deal breaker for me and my gf. It’s a chore to eat in a small, poorly ventilated room with barely a table and...
