Enjoyed our holiday, but probably wouldn’t return. ||I did look at reviews after we paid for the holiday and I was sceptical and worried with how mixed they were. But that being said we were pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly in reception, cleaners changed our sheets and fresh towels daily, rooms were tidy. ||Food was alright, we were half board. breakfast was very much the same each day, oddly the mushrooms were cold even though they were on a hot plate?! I think it’s the same anywhere, mass produced food. We did enjoy the themed nights in the restaurant, admittedly some were better than others. Enjoyed the grill chefs doing fresh fish, chicken, steaks. Plenty of salad options. Kids food appeared to be the same every night, pasta, nuggets, chips and a tomato sauce, fortunately I don’t have a fussy eater! The staff however were not the most pleasant in the restaurant, everything seemed too much, or can’t be bothered attitude and rude! Some nights/ mornings even, we went for food later and it was rammed, struggle to find a table, and even when you had found a table- it was dirty still, or no cutlery. Even upon returning to the table with your food either someone else had sat there whilst your left wondering with a plate of food or you had to find someone to give you cutlery and to clean the area- then your food is cold. Also the floors were not the cleanest. Safest option is to go up and leave someone by the table! And early! Also, once that food service hits the time, they turn the lights off, despite people still eating. Your room key is used in the restaurant area to order your drinks, like an ongoing tab, it’s always nice to be suprised with a bill at the end of your stay, so watch out for that. ||Pool areas were great, our 11 yro loved the main pools and spent hours there. Sunbeds did get reserved quickly and early in the morning so something to be aware of. Activities around the pool were entertaining , music was repetitive though and playlists could have been rotated better. The pool does get VERY busy also. Because we were half board we popped to the shop which was literally next door and got water and snacks for the kids rather than use the bar area. ||Now, what I didn’t anticipate it being as close to the Veronicas strip as it was and I do think this needs to be advertised better, especially if you do have younger kids. Because it is NOT CHILD friendly. It is loud, rowdy, full of drunks and drugs. As a family we walked past several times and we were approached and offered drugs, in the end we opted for a taxi past the chaos into los Cristianos, easily walkable but not doing it with kids. Even as an adult I didn’t enjoy that walk. I will say once back in the room the balcony doors were sound proof which is a huge relief as those bars appear to be in competition with “who can play music louder”will add, the same music every night… the absolute state of the strip right outside the hotel, to be seen from your balcony in the morning is disgusting! Litter everywhere! Few stragglers heading home, and workmen to clear it all up! (Everyday) ready to do it all again the next morning. ||This is just an honest opinion. We found the hotel to have good facilities and clean, some staff friendlier and more helpful than others, but predominantly used as a base during the day whilst we ventured out early evening once cooler. Cannot comment on the spa as we didn’t use it, nor the bar service. But I know a lot of families were complaining about how slow it is. Entertainment, we saw a few evenings and it was ok, but couldn’t stay for long as the cockroaches appeared. ( it’s normal apparently) but really grossed me out so went up to the room. ||I think for us as a family we’d perhaps opt for Costa Adeje area next time, we ended up spending a lot more time that way in the evenings, it felt safer, calmer, family oriented and much more pleasant.|It was our first time in Tenerife and it is absolutely stunning, well worth a visit. Siam water park was great also, but again would just opt for the night ticket which I believe they run throughout August as far less queuing and waiting. Also be prepared...
Read moreAfter reading other reviews I was a bit skeptical but this is what I thought after staying a week all inclusive:
Location is superb, 30 second walk from hotel entrance to Troya beach (but do note on weekends it can be a bit noisy as the clubs are extremely close with music lasting until 5am).
Buffet food was standard, a little bland and same-old but there was something for everyone. Do note - there isnt too much British/American food but they did have fries, cooked meat, cheese etc. Most of the food is Spanish (i think) although there was Chicken tikka masala one night!. Outside in the pool bar you can get burgers and hotdogs which are very very nice! Salad and vegetables are always available at the buffet so not sure what other reviews were talking about. I'm not sure if there are any vegan or vegetarian options as I'm not either.
Pool is a perfect size and warmer than the sea (therfore a little cold but refreshing when its 25degrees+). There are some little pools for just adults and just children too. The pool area captures the sun all day and is perfect for sunbathing or burning (in my case) so I'm not sure why some said it didn't! A little suprised that the pool was only open 11 - 7 but I'm not sure if that is normal? Either way with the beach next door it wasn't an issue at all.
Staff are lovely, most know English fine, and others, with a little extra hand gestures can understand. They can be a little slow at the pool bar but they are very polite and helpful. Reception staff always helpful and rung plenty of taxis for us.
The bedrooms are adequate size. You don't go on holiday to stay in your room so I don't think it matters too much. It was quite hot in the room however, although not unbearable by any means. The Aircon was not working throughout the hotel - which we weren't told until we asked about it on our 5th day. Our bed was booked as a double but we did have two singles pushed together. When you're hot and potentially sunburnt, you won't be complaining about the extra room and space. Bathroom was lovely and the water pressure was fantastic. Balconies are a lovely touch and have a table and two chairs which is perfect. Also nice privacy as it's a concrete wall rather than a railing or glass wall. Also has a line for wet clothes!
A little cheeky about room facilities, you have to pay for the safe and mini fridge. We didn't use or pay for either. We bought fresh cold water from the supermarket next door Daily and always had our valuables on us. You can drink the tap water but it can upset your stomach if you're sensitive due to the minerals. Room service is extra too so not included in all inclusive.
Apart from Sunday (i think) there is always entertainment throughout the middle of the day by the pool, sometimes aqua dance or bingo or even a fashion show. Entertainment is available every night too at 9:30pm by the pool bar. Usually a tribute act or magic show. All seemed well rehearsed and decent. We didn't watch any entirely but the bits we did catch looked okay!
All Inclusive menu can be found online. I'm not sure If they show it at the bar. But you can just ask if not. Most things are included.
House keeping came every day without fail and cleaned/replaced the linen/towels in our room. Very happy with that.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, we were worried about the reviews we had read but obviously we are just very easy going and didn't expect everything to be handed to us or maybe we just came at a good time?
The hotel does have a review box near the reception desk so do help out directly by filling one out if you stay. We did !
Overall we would give everything about 4/5. I don't think the hotel is necessarily a 4* but it was absolutely fine for our Week long trip.
We were happy with our stay and have no doubts that any problems we had the staff would help us with.
Thank you for...
Read moreFirst of all, the positives:|The hotel is modern and absolutely spotless but no way affords a 4 star rating.|There are more than ample sunbeds to go around and never once encountered the “sunbed war”. The quieter adult only area on the second floor with the infinity pool is a little haven of peace. |There are numerous sitting areas inside, again, with more than ample comfortable seating without having to sit next to others should we choose not to. |The hotel is situated right on the beach allowing for plenty walking in either direction. There are numerous bars and restaurants with walking distance. |The room domestic staff were thorough and friendly|Neutral points:|The staff right from checkin were less than friendly, they just seemed they were “just doing the job”. |The restaurant staff, again were slow to attend for drinks orders and we were at our desert course on one evening before we were seen, despite calling someone over and on one occasion got up and went over to the staff.|The “egg chef” for 4 days was surly and uninterested and rattled on in Spanish when I asked for a particular fried egg as the rest were overdone.|Entertainment: was very mixed and a couple of the singers were not good at all. |And now for the negatives:|Room. We were booked an Alexandre Club Room and the room was small, minimal and badly in need repair. The net curtain was hanging off the rail, the desk top was chipped and cracked, the door to the small cupboard did not close properly, the lid off the bin was broken and despite leaving it out was never changed and we had nowhere to set our cases except on the bed. The patio door needed a good pull to get it to close properly as it was stuck on the frame. We were never left with ordinary teabags, despite having asked. |Restaurant: I really don’t know what we can say about the restaurant that would encourage someone to visit. It was a free for all whether we went in early or late. This applied both to breakfast and lunch. There were badly behaved children running amok with no parental guidance and massive amounts of food wasted. Though the children issue is by no means the fault of the hotel. |The food was the worst we have ever had in any hotel in Tenerife and we are not finicky, picky eaters. Whatever was left the night before was dished up for breakfast. On three mornings there were no potato option (hash browns etc), only cold chips from the night before. All the food was tepid at best, the roast pork was undercooked (pink/red) and tasted vile. Roast turkey turned out to be pork, the omelettes were individually cooked to order but when the cheese, onion etc was added the omelette was just folded over on to raw filling and served. The cheese filling was still cold as were all the other fillings. |Tables were left dirty and we had to ask for a table to be cleared and reset on more than one occasion, so that we could get a table. Dirty dishes were left to pile up on the table before being removed. Invariably, there were no glasses at breakfast for water and juice and several of the cups and plates were chipped or had dried food on them. |Outside the hotel: As stated at the beginning the hotel is ideally situated. However the noise is unbearable at night with “music”, and I use the term very loosely, thumping out at a ridiculous volume from about 10pm right through until 5am at weekends and 3-4am mid week. We did not have one decent nights sleep for the whole of our stay. |In summary, would we recommend this hotel? NO. Would we stay at this hotel again? NO. Such a shame as the food and the service of the indifferent staff let...
