LONG RANT

Didn’t want to give any stars but have too in order to make a review...

We had just arrived in Tenerife, as walking toward Veronica’s.. a promoter approached us (3 of us) and asked where we were off.. explained we were just going for a walk to see what was around.. she asked what we drank.. and I’m a person who just likes to say no thanks and walk away from promoters but my girl friend is a bit chatty.. so we ended getting pulled in to Joyce. As we sat down the promoter went to a waitress and said what we wanted for drinks and that we would get free shots. The waitress seemed like she was a supervisor or someone higher and she gave the impression she didn’t want us in the bar. (I know this shouldn’t matter, but we are 3 gay girls and 2 of us are not girly and we weren’t dressed to impress as we just arrived) the reason I put this in is because it seemed like we weren’t the sort of crowed they wanted in the bar.. the people they were getting in were girls who were obviously out to party and who had short dresses and all glammed up (I’m not criticising how they dressed)..

But we’re were sat there and ordered Shisha as I’d never done it and thought might as well make the most of it... the waitress had said that there would be a wait if around 10 minutes which we agreed that was not a problem.. a shisha came out but went to the table next to us who arrived after we had placed the order.. (same flavour as we ordered)... so we were fine because obviously mistakes happen and you never know maybe they do pre orders or something.. we waited another 20 minutes nothing arrived.. so I pulled a waitress over and she had said we never ordered anything.. so we pointed to the waitress who we placed the order with who came over to say we had placed it.. by this point we just decided to ditch the shisha we will just have the drinks.. so the waitresses went and told the guy who was making the shisha that we didn’t want it anymore.. she came out and sid he was just making it so would be a couple of minutes.. so we decided if he was making it then we would have it.. I could see through the bar where the person was making the shisha and he was making 2 so we’re were hopeful.. the guy came out and dropped off one to another table so obviously thought the other one was for us.. but no.. went to another table... so the waitress came to us and asked where was our shisha.. which we thought the same so we said don’t worry about it anymore.. we’d just have the bill... she went in again to say that we didn’t want it.. (this waitress was very apologetic) She came out again to say he was just finishing it off which again I could see he was doing a shisha.. so this time we just said no.. (at this point we were feeling uncomfortable there and really didn’t want to pay for a bad service so said no) The guy making the shisha (who was Spanish) came out and said “do you want it or not” very aggressively.. which I replied no.. he said “you’ve taken the piss.. you want it then you don’t” But as I Was trying to explain what had happened he just walked away.. but there was a communication barrier anyway.. so a debate wouldn’t have gone far.

I know this is a long story.. but I just wanted to express everything.. it honestly was a massive regret going to this bar.. and would never go back there! For the remainder of the week we didn’t want to walk...

UPDATE 2nd Jan

My Husband's now with a hospital Doctor due to collapsing again. This is due to head injuries from the STAFF at Jocye.

NEW YEARS DAY 2024

Absolutely awful. CUSTOMERS are being targeted by staff to steal! With tactful organised theft. SCAMMING CUSTOMERS.

Arrived at the H10 Hotel NYE afternoon and went straight down to this bars area after midnight.

We got enticed into this bar, charged us for 4 drinks when we only wanted 2 for the time being so presumptious! Was only my husband and l! Did get a ticket for 2nd lot, so not so bad.

Complimented lovely pretty girl at the bar.

Came back to my husband saying the guy that brought us in from the street had put a towel over my phone pretending to wipe table ( He had already done that) STOLE my cards and 150 Euros out of my phone and dropped it on the seat adjacent. NO ONE ELSE CAME NEAR our table, it wasn't packed full of people around us.

This member of staff categorly without a doubt STOLE my monies.

I approached him, asked him why he moved my phone? I wasn't aggressive. My husband asked him as he knew what had happened. Next thing you know that guy and at least 4 other people that appeared to be STAFF were kicking my husband in the head. Plus swiped my husband's back with a knife or something sharp. Put a bottle over his head.

In no uncertain circumstances was this approached in a aggressive manor by ourselves. We are paying customers, that could have spent alot of money in there. My husband is the type of person to tip heavily for good service too. My husband is 61! I'm in my late 40's

Ruined his New Boss Polo shirt and Tommy Hilfiger jeans and belt and STOLE my husband's new phone and charger.

My Mother and l went back to JOYCE at 12.30 ( after no sleep at all, as was atended to my husbands injuries) the following day ( well a few hours later) and couldn't believe there was another fight there in broad daylight! Which l have video evidence of. THAT same member of staff was there again. POLICE SAID THEY KNEW HIM!

Ruined our holiday with my young boy's and 76 year old Mother. All of us extremely distressed.

Avoid at all costs!

HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE POLICE THIS IS THE WORST BAR IN THE RESORT FOR TROUBLE AND STAFF ACTING CORRUPTLY with their customers! THEY KNEW THE TABLE CLOTH TRICK from this bar.

We believe this was a targeted attack as they thought we looked like respectable holiday makers that had abit of money!

If this happened in the Midlands, where my husband has ran a large security company for the past 40 years with over 150 men, (so can defend himself) this place's staff and owner would have had serious consequences until this matter was properly rectified, and believe me my husband's a very fair and kind man.

I can say the guy that came to us later on as Manager did act with respect towards us. As his own staff were beating his customers up!

I WILL BE SPEADING THE WORD ABOUT THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE I SEE FOR...

DONT GO TO THIS BAR!!! I never write reviews however this needs to be said if you’re thinking of going to this bar. It was my first holiday abroad with my partner and the last night we went to this bar, we were approached by a young man who offered us free drinks and we went in as the atmosphere was good, it wasn’t until my partner went to the bar when 3 men surrounded me and tried to talk to me to which I didn’t respond. Being trusting I carried on with my night until I blacked out and was spiked in there. I don’t know how but what I believe was something had been put in my drink. I don’t remember a thing and was very nearly sent to hospital with how bad I was. My phone was also stolen from my zipped up bag on my shoulder as well as a large amount of euros stole from my partner’s wallet. If I wasn’t with my partner who thankfully wasn’t affected I can’t honestly say what would have happened to me. Being a young person myself it’s completely put me off from clubs and trusting people. I’d avoid this bar at all costs there’s such amazing bars within the town itself however Veronica’s strip is a very dangerous place to be even for a young girl and her boyfriend who has barely had a drink before going out and was effected so badly. I went back to the club the next day in hopes of finding my phone and explaining what had happened to the staff in the bar to which I was told not to ask them and turned away with no sympathy or help.
