Hotel Trafalgar — Hotel in Jerez

Entered the hotel and the reception area gave a good impression despite poor reviews. We were given keys to our room. On the face if it the room was ok. On further investigation, only two bedside lamps worked, bathroom light also worked. The smoke alarm was broken and we were unable to use the safe. I reported these to reception straight away, advised maintenance would deal with the next day. Unfortunately they didn't. The shower was so powerful, I washed the bathroom when I turned it on. Breakfast was ok, there was a reasonable selection but the eggs looked half cooked. I feel sorry for the staff. They have to deal with dissatisfied customers continuously. Staff in general were courteous and helpful. I did not like the entrance to the hotel whuch was by a switch operated by reception. One afternoon we were left 5 minutes outside in sweltering heat before staff came to open the door. The parent company needs to take attention otherwise this hotel will become a ghost building. All it needs is updating the rooms and allowing guests to come and go by fob key. We had stayed in a 2 star property the previous two days in another city. Arrived with trepidation having not read reviews before booking and just accessed. No English speaking so used little bit Spanish . Got allocated a room on 2nd floor. Looking out at a wall blinds not working but other than that functional. But!!!!! The smell in the hall outside was horrific with smoke and it was was Marijuana 100% coming out adjoining room with blaring music. This was at 2pm in the afternoon. Scary indeed. After an attempt at the maid who was at lift to access the room failed we went to reception. Told it would be sorted but refused to accept the room wanted to leave. Offered a room on 3rd floor. It was ok no body else seemed to be on this floor. Room was basic but ok and clean. Stayed 2 nights breakfast was reasonable with decent selection and decent service.Veranda was really small and buses were noisy until 11pm. I quite liked the hotel even with its issues. Do not expect the Ritz but at the price and the fantastic location in the centre and eventually a reasonable room with good view of the square I could not complain.Parking is 8 Euros a day at adjacent car park. We arrived on 24th May 2025 checked in after 2.00pm the room had no air conditioner, temperature 32C - 34C, courtyard square type of room people looking on to each other’s rooms, we had to keep blinds down. We asked receptionist to change the room, where fully booked and promised to change next day Sunday, from 6.00am Sunday morning loud music talking and singing, surprised security did not investigate!! Breakfast wife had scrabble eggs. We were told to vacate the room as they wanted to clean this was 10.00am. Therefore, waiting in reception / lounge for our other room at 1.00pm after waiting 3 hours asked if the room was ready - informed we had to wait till 2.00pm to check in which I responded we had already checked in yesterday.
