CHICUELO — Restaurant in Jerez

Surprised nobody was there when we dropped by for lunch on Friday. The service was slow and the waiter working there did not speak English but he was very friendly and google translate stepped in for the occasion. The restaurant is comfortable, clean and had nice rustic decor. We chose to eat indoor because it was hot and there was aircon, but there is an outdoor terrace available too. When the food arrived I understood why it took a while. Everything was well made, flavors were excellent and the presentation of the dishes were a delight for my eyes. Tuna steak was delicious, seared and served rare inside. Perfect! Pork tenderloin was soft, juicy and tender. The sauce on it was very good! I couldnt stop eating the fries because of that. There were 6 pieces for the serving so great if you are hungry. The Hake in green sauce was actually Hake in white bean soup with olive oil and I think Fino. I was delicious. The dish that was not as good as the pork shoulder, ehich was a bit dry. The portions for the entrees were very good for the price and I was very glad we decided to eat there. 1 euro charge for bread clearly stated...

Varias cosas a comentar. Estuvimos en una mesita alta el sitio pintaba bien, habían 2 mesas altas además de nosotras. Éramos 3 y empezamos pidiendo 1/2 de ensaladilla, 1/2 de croquetas y 1/2 de berenjenas. La ensaladilla buena, las croquetas normales y las berenjenas no las volvería a pedir, nos lo trajeron todo a la vez. Justo después vemos que va con 3 platillos de ajo y les indica a la mesa justo que estaba al lado para que lo prueben y a la siguiente también y nos dejaron mirando, un feo detalle por su parte. Vimos que pasó un plato de alcachofas con buena pinta y pedimos media ración y preguntamos por la brocheta de pollo tandori, nos dijo que era pollo con especias indias y al traer los platos, eran 3 mitades de alcachofas mucho más pequeñas que el plato que vimos de cantidad y calidad, además la brocheta era de pollo pero de tandori nada, era como un pinchito gigante y las mismas especias que el pinchito y sin sal. Pedimos también paté de cabracho que vimos pasar y no venía en ningún sitio. Después de todo esto, volvimos a pedir bebidas y vuelvo a pedir cola zero zero, tengo problemas de sueño y no puedo tomar cafeína, gracias a Dios no es alergia, sino me hubiera dado algo poque antes de traerme la segunda, me dice que la que tiene es solo zero y que es la que me había puesto antes y ya me había tomado. Mi cara un poema, subrealista, con lo que cambie a Fanta. Otro detalle al pedir una copa de oloroso viene con la botella y pudiéndose acercar dice, dame la copa, y la rellena, ni si quiera un disculpa me acercas la copa o perdona...no se las formas no eran. Y ya para rematar nos trajeron la cuenta sin pedirla, eso ya fue la guinda, con lo cual o mejoran el trato al cliente o se quedan solos, también creo que diferencian entre tipos de clientes pero bueno es algo más subjetivo. Ademas escasean de cartas. Creo que en eso se resume nuestra visita, caro no fue 48€ pero la comida no lo merecía tampoco....

What a nice restaurant! Beautiful place, amazing food and friendly, English speaking staff. We had the huge steak to share and it was perfect. The best steak I had in Jerez. Also the cheesecake for dessert was very tasty. We will come again for sure. Unfortunately the restaurant opens late (for non-Spanish people) at 8pm. So we had a light dinner before to avoid starving and were not very hungry. When we arrived 1 minute after the opening, the restaurant was empty, so you can't see many other people...
